i actually can't remember the last time i saw a dev journal or a reply from any of the devs concerning updates or bugs.....cept Kryo. Has Stardock given up on GalCivII? They no longer care about this site it may seem, or at the very least feel Sins is more of a priority. I very much doubt that. They're probably too busy working on 1.7 and/or on holidays. And it is a weekend currently, so they're probably not at work either <img src="

I would like that too. All options open to both sides, that way we could really test and see how the battle calculations work (and watch the pretty fireworks!). It would be really cool - I don't usually see large enemy fleets because I don't give them time to assemble I would be surprised if the devs don't already have a basic verison of this done already - they had to test the combat code with

I agree, it would be really cool if we could have proper rotating parts and be able to use hulls as jewlery. I'm not sure why they haven't already done this - it's only looks, so it shouldn't matter to the metaverse. Admittedly, it's going to take more memory, but maybe we should have a toggle somewhere that disables the functionality. Whatever, consider the petition signed

Some people have reported the same even after unchecking show prerelease and refreshing XML, but they were able to get it by completely reinstalling. If you want to try this though, make sure to use the archive option on DA first in case it doesn't work out. I found that if I did the updates manually, and in the order they were installed (DL, HM, DA) that they started working again. Almost felt like a dependency issue to me...

None. That's the thing, there's no warning, it just sneaks up on you. There are lines in the debug however, Debug Message: Popup Manager Update: Unhiding SaveGameWnd Debug Message: Save Game: About to save Debug Message: Saving game C:\Documents and Settings\Greg Logan\My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar\War.sav Debug Message: Failed to create save file. The relations bug doesn't appear in the debug at all. It isn't a one-turn thing either, since

Ok, as I reported in another post (linked) WWW Link I have found a semi-repeatable bug where saving the game, as well any new ship designs fails. I'll post the debug.err after this. I'm playing DA1.6b4, with a Windows XP laptop. Luckily I caught it early and I still have both of my autosaves (available, if you're interested)! A more minor problem is that I've found that sometimes two races have different relations set for one

While I'm not the above poster, I have run into this bug a couple of times now as well in DA1.6b4 (I'm running one less than the current one, that I know for sure). It says something along the lines of Save Failed: [filename], but I've since lost those debugs . Autosaves also fail (since it deletes the file, then saves (can we have this the other way around, please?)), so if you don't detect this early i

I don't know if this would work with the current engine, but maybe a supernova-type event, that grows one square (parsec?) per week, eventually consuming the entire system. The race(s) who inhabit the star system get temporary diplo and research (from studying the star's expansion) boosts. Also you could do a ribbon-of-death type thing, where a destructive energy ribbon travels across the map (a la StarTrek:Generations), and any planet caught in it is reduced by x PQ, and completely d

I think what they're objecting to is having new content (new races, ships, weapons, etc) bundled with the (hypothetical) MP addon. I know I would object too. I have no interest in playing online with this game or any other.

The first thing I do when I buy a new game is check the web for a no-cd crack. The fact that I didn't even have to look for GalCiv makes the purchase worthwhile, and being able to download the whole game again should I lose the CDs is a definite bonus. Copyprotection can also cause problems for, say, an upgrade to a 64bit machine. With a StarForce-d game (say, SplinterCell Chaos Theory) I'd be screwed because the copyprotection crap doesn't do 64bit - even if the app that's wr

I've got the same card in a different laptop, and GC runs fine on my machine. Are you overclocking the chip by any chance? I had problems like that with a different (more demanding, graphically) game when I had the card OCd too much. Also make sure to check for virii, spyware, blah blah. You know, the usual stuff

Modding the storyline, and adding a new one for that matter, is very difficult. If you're really interested, take a look around LancersReactor. As far as I know, there is no mod that adds storyline, most are multiplayer only. Those mods usually do work offline tho, just not as well or with a few bugs.

I've not had a problem with SuperCom, and my machine is pretty much at the low end of the spectrum with a Mobile Radeon 9700 128MB graphics card. Make sure your drivers are all up to date, and disable any virus-scanning tools you might have for an extra performance boost. Of course I don't know how the game performs with the normal exe, I replaced mine immediately with a crack so that I don't have to have the CD constantly spinning in my laptop's drive. Might be worth seeing if there
