Man I had to dig out my account information so I could post a request -- only to find it's already been requested. Let me put my my hand up in support of hctopcu's idea. I could seriously use 'folder' Fence functionality (and it'd be a great 'Pro' feature).

My ORC is built on a PQ 24 planet with -- I kid you not -- TWO Technological capitals and all other squares taken up by NLCs. The beaker output is obscene. Seriously obscene. Like XXX sort of obscene. Its also how I went from having 10% of the galaxy under my control to having 98% of the galaxy under control without engaging in even one battle. Its amazing how far research into the Diplofluence techs will get you. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0

This was reported once before, I think. Someone said that if you hit ESC during an election, it would dismiss the window without a vote and the game would never return to another vote. The solution, I think is to go back to a previous saved game before the last election.

I'm a pacifist. Honest. I almost never build fleets. If I must build warships, I build big ships capable of taking on several AI fleets per turn. The key to not maintaining a standing army is alliances, trading and diplomacy. I'm currently on four planets, with a hostile Altaria as my nearest neighbor. They've been being very pushy lately, threatening me and demanding tribute. I could probably rush some ships and get them off my back, I supp

What video card do you have? What chipset does it use. I'll bet that will answer this problem really quick.

Morfin, I'm a LW user myself. Can you verify that the there are no axis rotation issues with models originationg Lightwave? I know Max and Lightwave disagree on what the Y and Z axis are, and which one head into the workspace.

I read the Post Mortem as soon as Gamasutra sent me the email. Truly a great read, and very informative. I liked the shout out to EA for the texture artists, etc. I swear, between you guys, the old Particle Systems team, and the Ion Storm guys, the game industry might just have a chance.

Influence is a great "filler" trade item. Playing a high diplomacy race--the sort that can sell vacuum to astronauts--you trade stuff to the AI (starbases, ships, techs, BCs) and then add some of their influence to the mix. Its never much. 2500 here, 10k there, etc. It will, however, matter for the cultural victory (every bit you siphon from them to you adds to your percentage).

Considering the size of the model in the game most of the time, you should be able to cut the polys on that down to under 2500, easy. You don't even need normal mapping: that's for stuff you're seeing large and in your face all the time. This leads me to wonder how the LODing GalCiv2 works (if it even has a LOD system)

And the annoying thing is that someone just posted something similar, too! *grumble* For what its worth, this is a GeForce 440go chipset in a laptop. Upgrading it isn't an option, and if its not compatible with the textures, that's cool. i'll just deal with it.

I've been playing this game for two weeks and I only just now realized I have no textures on my ships or starbases! Goes to show how much a good game will distract your from cosmetics. Anyway, i'm wondering, what can I do to fix that? I've verified my regional settings are correct. My Windows is US English, set for US English. I've verified I have the most recent drivers for my graphics card (which are actually quite old, Dell doesn't upda

I didn't use any sort of special attacks. No bombing, no gas, not tidal upheavals. Nothing. Just Master Chief Enzo. For the record, yes, I know it was 1000 troops, but given that 1000 troops are represented by one little stick man, I figure it makes a funnier story to imagine it as just one man. I'm glad you guys enjoyed the story. I'll be naming an Enzo class freighter and battleship after the guy, and my home planet will forever

For some reason, I decided that I wanted one of the Torian planets. I think it was because I wanted a home base to build constructors for an influence starbase. I'm in the far right corner of the map and the Torians are in the far left corner. I built the influence starbase and started watching the worlds I finally picked Martin II. 12pq, no defenders, all the way in the corner, but lots of ground troops. So I sent over about eight dropships--and one f

Heh. I'm looking to convert the Molly class hull I did for Iwar2, as well as the Waterdancer and the Braavosi. If no one else bothers, I'll probably throw together some mod tools for Lightwave (like the groovy hardpoint tool PS designed for modders, etc). As far as where I went? I'm still around. I just don't have time to post. The Big Move is happening as we speak. My wife and I are staying with my parents for several days whilst our hous

So, what is our orientation axis? Should we be pointing the hull down the X, Y or Z axis? Axis+ or Axis-? How should our null be oriented for hardpoints. I swear this reminds me of designing ships for Iwar2. oh, and Hi Aldo. Thinking about bringing some Reciprocity models into GalCiv?

So it all works now. First, I rolled back the drivers, which took care of the stretchy thing. A quick comparison of before and after registry details reveals an interesting detail: the Omega drivers were presenting two desktops to Windows, with one disabled. The most recent driver from Dell is not doing that. Interestingly, the most recent drivers straight from Nvidia refuse to even install. Now that stretching was fixed, I was able to boot the game and actually have all th
