More tedious busy-work plz. Thx! Could we also make sure to not fix the ability targeting bugs, by the way? Being able to work around them with frantic but skillful move-clicking helps separate the pros from the n00bs.

Well, I'm one of those people who swears that it does more harm than good in most cases but yes, you're right. There are situational positives to it. In my experience, the situation where the other team doesn't have one or more good AoE's and the game is being played on a massive map like Mandala just don't seem to come up very often. Perhaps I've just been unlucky in my matchups and map choices. Most of the time, I'm pleased to hear that my opponent decided to throw
The AI isn't great but I don't get 'these' problems when playing Hard or Nightmare. With the last patch, the AI seems to be playing much more conservatively with its health and I hardly ever see it just standing around unless it's capping a flag. As for citadel upgrades, in my experience, the AI spends more on them than most players and honestly, I'd rather they didn't. Many of the upgrades are practically useless anyway.
I would pay for bonus content like maps, new demigods, new item packs and stuff like that.
As would I (beyond the first two, anyway). I really wish more games would get on board with 'meaningful' micro-expansion content. I had high hopes for DoWII, for example but they don't seem to be willing to deliver so far.
This all has certainly been my impression. As has been said before, even the actual added-creep upgrades could stand a good look. As a light-side player, I shouldn't be smiling when the ominous voice says "Dark Priests have joined the battle!" That's almost as harmful to my progress as "You have gained a level! (and some cash!)"
True enough. I wouldn't gripe if I didn't care.
It will only end the game if that team can agree to end it.
Ah... for some reason, I was under the impression that each individual player was going to have the option to concede. If it's 'only' going to be a whole-team-agrees sort of feature, then yeah. That's useless. John Q. Ragequitter isn't likely to be deterred by everyone else saying "NO!"
Just have an 'undo' button on the skill-up UI like every other character creation screen ever made (yes, I exaggerate but it is a pretty damned common feature). When you close the window, your choice is locked and the button goes grey. Simple. Aside from the 'supposed' time that this takes away from development of more important features (which is entirely subjective), I don't see why anyone should be bothered by this.
My complaint is that the Concede thing is mentioned as a solution, rather than triage like you describe it.
To be honest, I'm really not expecting the kind of full-scale rebalancing that making the game fun at all levels, regardless of who's ahead, would probably entail to ever happen but still, this quick-fix is a lot better than nothing. As always, I'd love to be proven wrong, though.
I don't quite see what this solves. I would think the goal would be to maximize the fun parts of the game for both sides, rather than institutionalizing rage-quitting.
It may not be ideal but at least now, the game will simply end in a victory for the winning team when people quit rather than forcing the winners to sit through a boring comp-stomp first. It's a quick step in the right direction while other issues that take a bit more time (like rebalancing other
It's funny... Whenever there's a debate about post-quality, nobody who's involved seems capable of putting together an error-free post. And yes, fewer people tend to read posts that look like they were written in the mashed-face-on-keyboard style.
The fact that you call anyone who disagrees with you an 'RQ'er' speaks volumnes about the strength of your argument, imo.
Well, the point he makes is fair, though. Why would someone else having a personal ignore list bother you? If someone goes nuts with their ignore list and only wants to play with a select few known people, what difference does it make on your end? If you've done something (intentional or otherwise) to make someone irate enough
Hard and Nightmare AI is cheating, they get more gold and EXP.
Was this changed in a patch or is the manual incorrect? Only the Nightmare AI should be cheating and my experience with Hard AI's has never shown them doing anything out of the ordinary.
I may be thinking of the wrong item though. I was thinking of the one that lets you zap a few feet away. But maybe the Favor item is the one that let's you teleport as though you had a scroll?
The Amulet of Teleportation is basically a reusable portal scroll with a 45 second cooldown. The reference to the AI was regarding the AI's tendency to constantly use teleports to escape combat (generally, a very bad idea as I'm sure you know). The short-distan
Why do people like this item? Doesn't it just do like 250 damage?
You can clear a lane of lower-level creeps from anywhere on the map and still get the gold and exp. when you do. An extra wave of exp and gold every 45 seconds is nothing to sneeze at. The ability to finish off weakened runners (again, from anywhere) is handy, too.
Isn't an item that helps you kill generally better than an item that helps you run away? Running away is a step tow
Realistically, I'd bank on shrinkage at this point but I'd love to be proven wrong. Since I don't care at all about Pantheon, I'm having a great time with my friends and would be thrilled to see new content and balance tweaks and such. It's not often you get more than one chance to make a first impression, though.
I kind of like that idea regardless of balance issues. GPG should be familiar with it as the option to disable specific units was available in Supreme Commander as well.
Nightmare cheats. The other difficulties either play on your level or lower. From what I understand, the AI allies that you get in Tournament mode are 'Normal' regardless of what difficulty you play so on Hard or Nightmare, your team will be at a disadvantage.
So instead of punishing rage quiters...why don't you award players who stay to the end of the game even if they lose with a little more favor points then the 10-20 you usually get?
I think this was the problem being discussed in point #2. Awarding points to people who stick around is likely just going to make John Q. Ragequitter consider going AFK and getting a drink instead of actually playing out the game. That's assuming a paltry 20 points has any effec
I think the question is, why is that more OP'ed than any other stun+damage stack? Yes, it didn't help his argument that he jumped from 2 to 4 opponents but to bring it back into context, why is Spit/Grasp x 2 worse than, say, Boulder/Hammer x 2 or Batswarm/Masscharm/Bite x 2 or ChainofdamageabilitiesfromTB with possible Frost Nova x 2? And that's just mirrors. Those and other combinations can also hit both team members well before 15 (which is when spit finally does a bit of
I'd love to see this in a free-for-all or >2 team setting but yeah. Maps are going to be an issue. Creep pathing would probably be a bit more complicated, too.
I for one almost played Pirates of the Burning Sea. Before I did I checked the forums to learn a little about the game. After seeing a handful of doom and gloom threads on the first page I knew the game wasn't for me.
Well, if someone checks these forums and sees that there are widespread connection issues that they'd rather not deal with, then yes, I suppose the game is hurt but... why shouldn't it be? Are you now wishing you 'had' blown $50 on PotBS? I
That's why I'm here. I'd never even heard of DotA until roughly a week after buying this game so if nothing else, it certainly 'felt' original to me. Most of my notably entertaining game experiences in the last year have been with games in the $30-or-under bracket, usually found as a deal on Steam and whatnot. I got a 'lot' more play out of Mount and Blade, for example, than Dawn of War II and Unreal Tournament 3 combined.
Voodoo magic. That or they ate their Wheaties. It's the breakfast of champions, I hear.
I'm fairly sure you didn't make a difference though. Those people were not going to quit before your speech. You didn't convert anyone, because these people are not convertable.
Then what exactly is the point of the dozen threads a day we're seeing on this subject around here?
