I'd like to see something along the lines of Star Legions ( Link ) which essentially was a campaign style RTS SP game where the player controlled the forces committed to planetary invasions. The game started withe the player's forces entering orbit around a planet, and then the player would have to start deploying drop ships full of troops, and destroyers and cruisers to contend with orbital defensive platforms and or ground based anti-ass

leave the amount of planets like they are now or only if it's an OPTION From a Scenario Designer perspective this is a very good idea, as it gives the best of both worlds (pun intended), and is actually implementable now via editing XML file that controls how habitable planets are: say just edit this file and place it in the scenario "sand
I wish you could do something with at least some of the Class 0 planets. Say be able to "explore" them with the idea being that you could possibly discover an ancient ruin or new species/ ecosystem which would benefit your Faction in some way. Also for Class 0's, say be able to establish an outpost on some of them. For instance be able to build a "Science Outpost" on a Mercury class planet to study sunspots, which would then benefit your research capabilities in certain areas. <b
As far as Forever Peace is concerned don't bother -its not that good. If your looking for a good read along the same lines as "The Forever War" read Heinlein's "Starship Troopers" or John Steakley's "Armor". If your looking for insystem space battles read Dickson's "Dorsai" Here's the problem: Space is big. No, I mean BIG. It's ridiculo
1. are the a way to make more planets habitable? Im looking for say 70-90% of all the planets on the map. The file that controls how habitable planets are is called "Customplanets". So say you want to edit in the ability to colonize Mercury. Change the number in the Class line in the section for Mercury to however habitable you wa
Whoops! So whats a few powers of 10 between friends, eh? Anyways, I think the questions are still pertinent, and it'll be interesting to see exactly what can and can't be mod'd into scenarios/ maps etc. From my perspective the more tools available to the modders, the more they can then do with them. So I was playing around with the XML Files last night, specifically what all can I do with solar systems, planets, and suns. I couldn't find the handle for creating a rogue planet (i.e. planets not orbiting a star). I also couldn't locate the handle on how to place the various planets within a solar system (i.e. if I want to place planet X at 1.1 Angstrom Units, Planet Y at 3.2 AU, Planet Z at 5.2 AU, etc.). Are there handles for either of these available (or will there be handles for either of
I like the idea of nebulae being added to the game, as some of the maps I've played on so far have had some significant empty regions in them. I also really like of tweaking the "wormhole" concept in game - sounds like something really interesting to add into "scenarios". Here are some other ideas that I've had. Not sure how implementable they are, but heah, you nefer know! 1. Spaceship equipment that can induce sunspots into an enemy sun (either that or be able to "project" an
