I haven't used this tech in-game, but I THINK this may be related to the planetary invasion tactic of "Mass Drivers". So you don't actually have to HAVE mass drivers, but when you go to actually invade you can select it as your tactic. It causes much devastation but has the potential to greatly increase your "advantage factor". There's info about this invasion tactic on the Galciv 2 wiki: <a href="https://www.galciv.wikicities.com/wiki/Planetary_i

Talk pages are not exactly like articles, although the way you interact with both is the same. You have to "Edit" either. The biggest difference between the two is that you usually sign your comments on talk pages (with ~~~~), and it's considered VERY bad form to modify what people have said on a talk page (you can add your own comments, just don't modify theirs). On the other hand you don't sign your work in articles, and any part of an article is fai

It appears in BOTH the general area and the subarea. The subareas appear to be more like a filter than an actual subforum.

If you have to play it RIGHT NOW, you could always order from stardock and get the digital download + retail. That way you can download and play it, and receive the hardcopy when they get a chance to ship it. I think one of the major problems in this process has been a communication problem. The employees at the retailers (Walmart, EbGames, etc) have no idea about the distribution problems caused by the higher-than-expected demand. As a resu

It doesn't really matter whose fault it is, at the end of the day, you bought our game and it's up to us to make sure you're happy."
Weak. I preordered with ebgames.com precisely because I thought they'd have the customer bonuses/ Collector's Edition. Granted, we still should get the "bonus digital content", but I was after the printed tech tree.
See comment #1.
It was posted by an "Avatar", but that post has since disappeared from that thread. I wish I had saved the .jpg's to HD, for future reference (in case a tech tree doesn't come with my pre-order... whenever it gets here). Update: I found the image location in my history... it was hosted at imageshack, and apparently it exceeded bandwidth restrictions. (Imagine that.) I guess it was a little too popular. I doubt Google caches anything that large...
People have posted sightings at Best Buy (and usually in small quantities). So far they are the only brick and mortar retailer that I have heard of having it in hand. I'm still patiently awaiting my EBgames.com order...
Starbane, lachniet was proposing creating a ship with basically ONLY defense, hoping that the AI would target it before hitting the weaker units that actually have offensive capabilities. In theory, if the damage soaker had enough defensive capabilities it could be nearly impervious to all the attacks, while the smaller units whittle down the opposing side. Apparently this worked at one point (pre-release), but the AI has since been modified to target
It would seem like if the AI algorithm is as they have described it, this wouldn't be viable. Supposedly the AI aims to take out as much firepower as it can with as little damage as it can. A damage soaker would read as having to take a lot of damage, and not possess much firepower. On the other hand the fighters would have some firepower, but comparitively smaller damage capacity. The AI would then pop off each of the fighters before even engaging the
Of the three possibilites (interest higher, lower, or exactly as expected), having a higher than expected interest is theoretically a very good problem to have. I agree with TylerToo, though, that you would expect that they would AT LEAST ship enough to meet the old preorders. (There's no "analysis" about estimated interest needed at that point, if they've got their credit card ready to charge as soon as it ships.) I don't expect Stardock wo
I doubt this has anything to do with Galciv 2 being in high demand. After all, it would make sense for a retailer to AT LEAST order enough units to fill their pre-orders. I'm guess that this has to be some sort of supply chain/distribution issue. It's quite frustrating. I went with ebgames because I have dealt with them in the past, and things had always gone smoothly. Though, it sounds like this problem is not unique to ebgames (amazon, walmart, etc.)
