Yeah...well the good news is I only have 10 more weeks until I get to go back home to my routerless DSL, and hopefully I'll be able to host then. I'm still a bit upset though. I'm sure there are reasons, but I don't understand why the devs would choose this form of netcode peer to peer thingy opposed to 99% if the other games that use a more user-friendly system. Maybe in the sequel they will re-think the netcode and make it easier for us pedestrian institu
I seemed to also have had this issue. Have a closer look though, it seems the ships do take the normal exits of a planet, but they travel directly to the destination planet's exit point. They do not venture into the Phase Stabilizer itself and the do not come out of the target portal. And as mentioned above, they need to be fully constructed. Hope this helps. <img id="ImageResize_Image_1" onload="ImageResizer.createOn(this);" src="http://images.stardock.com/smiles/Smi

I've had an excellent series of hosts, and I've only played 1v1 and team matches, so I can't say for sure, but if the game does not persist (i.e. someone else becomes the game host), you could always just save/use the last autosave with a new host. Honestly, autosave is just awesome. I figured it was originally intended to be for long game sessions, but it's saved people who have accidentally lagged out twice now; best online feature I've come across in a long time.
Try building more gold mines. Make sure you have at least 6-7 peasants going into each gold mine, depending on the distance from your town hall. Your lumber mills should be able to get you by with only a handful of workers chopping trees. You'll be able to afford the upgrades to your knights in no time!
If you build your center right next to the mine/starting position, you only need five to max out, otherwise you'll have a peon/p

1.) Check your firewalls. Even behind a school connection which actively throttles connections, I still managed 5-45k p/second. 2.) Speaking of throttling, if you download quite a bit, some ISPs will throttle your connection. 3.) Check your firewall. This just smacks of either a firewall or router issue if you were able to download the client just fine, but the SDC download is going that slow. 4.) Learn some manners. Also, learn what you're buying. You paid your IS

The power spawns a couple of random ships to the edge of the planet's gravity well. As for the phase thing, make sure they're both fully constructed. I can't speak for anything else, because when I order my fleet to move from one system with a phase gate to another, they choose the right one. Even if I issue the command to jump to a system nearby, they'll still use the phase gate to get to a system close by, then do normal jumps. Works right in my game...
We thank you for your support! We hope we are living up to your expectations. Ironclad games, have always lived up to expectations. ON THE OTHER HAND, i seriously doubt the wisdom of choosing stardock as a publisher. I've been looking for an in store copy of Sins ever since release day, and have heard the same story repeated dozens of times. one copy per st
As for the argument that huge battleships don't maneuver, that's a lie. I point you to the super heavy dreadnoughts of WWII. The 'fast' battleships like the Iowa class or the biggest ever, the Yamato and its sister ship Musashi, were all battleships that grossed at over 40,000 tons and were huge. Not one of them, in ship to ship combat, ever stayed still while firing at one another. At distances of only just 20km, with targets nearly half a kilometer long and a theore

If you mouse over your credits, not only will it show you your economy, but if you zoom out to see the entire map, it should also highlight what I believe to be your longest continuous trade route.

There already is a section, although it may not always be at the forefront of the forums, go to the Sins "home" section of the forums:
Which brings me to another question, if you are playing a big 4v4 won't the games cap not be enough. 2000 really isn't that much. Actually, try playing it before you say its "Not enough" -- that is a lot of ships, and you'll find it difficult to afford building that many, much less more.
It is not enough when you get into the later parts of huge games with multiple star systems

That's why our Lords Fraser, hallowed be their names, gave us the ability to zoom waaaaaaay out to see a more tactical display as well as the Empire Tree. When zoomed out to planet icon level, each planet will have three small bars; the one on the bottom displays the rough quantity of structures (mouse over tells you exactly which ones), the left bar shows any friendly ships in the area (mouse over again tells you exactly which ones), while the right bar shows enemy strength at that planet (gue

Yay, I'm not alone! I'm not an "oldie" or whatever though, just 21, but I love the concept that strategy is more than proper empire setup and positioning of forces and whatnot, but also the direction the empire should head. Should I risk going up a notch in econ, or should I starve the empire a bit to better attune my phase missile tech? I miss GalCiv2 100+ turn research :( I personally feel the combat damage/resiliance is jsut right; it is the research times that need to be slowed
Not sure if this has been requested already or not, but I would love to see some way to make your cap ships hold enough anti-matter in reserve to make a phase jump. Basically it wouldn't let them auto-cast if it would take their reserve under 100. It would only let them use it to jump. Auto-cast is usually pretty useful, but it's seriously frustrating when you're trying to bug out and your cap ships decided to use up all their AM.
<

I viewed the tutorial as 101 boot camp...basically "how to survive an additional five minutes--you'll learn the real stuff in the field". That being said...honestly, it's not that frackin' hard to read some text. I read through the whole manual before even starting the game ^.^

I personally love the TEC look, especially their carrier, plus I'm a turtler :D The Vasari are probably my favorite for large maps due to their phase gate tech...in terms of space superiority, nothing beats the Advent though...I <3 advent carrier based fleets.
