I've started on the end of a Phase Highway line playing the beta (ie, only one direction in which to go). If a player started on the next gravity well over on that line, I would have to go through him or die. If that player defends his homeworld (with fleet and platforms) while sending out a tiny force to take empty planets/asteroids further along that line(s), he can expand while containing me. Then he can crush me easily. <

In beta 1 they are distributed to help instigate action early. Thus, when there are only 4 players, they will all be in the same system. If you increase the number of players they will spread out into the other systems. More placement algorithms and choices will be available in future iterations of the beta. When the Galaxy is randomly created are the AI empires randomly placed. As of late I have been playing versus 3 AI empires in a 20 planet 4 Solar System Galaxy, and it seams that they are always in my Solar System. Will they ever be placed in another Solar System, or are all AI Empires spawned in your system? I want the feel of alien forces invading my Solar System, and the tactical choice of when to send my fleets to invade enemy Solar Systems.

Seeing as how the beta has been out for a couple of days, I figured its about time a thread was started on which ship seams to be the favorite of Galactic Czars. For me its the Akkan class cruiser. First and foremost it appears to be a converted space Cruise Liner, and second who doesn't like a colony ship that can go toe-to-toe with other Capital vessels... Oh and the Ion Bolt Cannon and Improved Targeting isn't a bad bonus either.

In the walkthrough of the beta it goes into how Trade Ships are an important part of your interstellar empire. When destroying enemy trade ships how much does it impact their economy? Or when your trade ships are destroyed how much is your own economy affected? Is their other ways to produce currency/credits other then trading? And are their computer controlled pirates as well?

Q: Will it be better then Sword of the Stars A: Yes with %100 more tactical'ness Q: What will I be able to do in the Beta? A: The Beta will allow you to play from start to finish. However the first beta will not include Ironclad's online matchmaking service Ironclad Online. *the first question/answer is more of a joke for people who have played SOTS
