Smart Startup in Stardock Support General WinCustomize Forums

During my windows startup my stardock smart startup doesn't engage and display a window. I noticed this because on my laptop it does display the smart startup on windows startup. Before I installed the new object desktop I just had window blinds, cursor xp, boot skin and logon and I thought that because I had them installed first before object desktop it has something to do with it. Actually, I've been using ZoneAlarm's security suite for several years now, and I have no complaints. It doesn't chew up too many system resources, and it works well. Also, the suite has uniformly gotten great reviews and it's not ludicrously priced. I've seen that on cnet.com, but I have mixed feelings.

Just my personal opinion, yes. With adaware, spybot and windows defender you have the basics covered. I run the pograms you do along with spyware blaster. I also use zone alarm firewall. You will get different personal preferences as to which software to run. The important thing is protect you computer from unwanted and uninvited guests as in virus, adware and trojans getting in. I have just looked up zone alarm anti-virus and it looks pretty good. I also reviewed the zone alarm internet security. I already have adaware, spybot and windows defender, would the internet security be overkill?

Thats what I heard. Zone Alarm's Internet Security has been rated pretty good and it isn't a performance hog. That norton is just strictly anti-virus and still takes forever to let the system startup

Curious on Startup Speed in OS Customization WinCustomize Forums

My system is AMD Athlon 64 3000 Venice, 2 gb ram, 2- 7600 GT Nvidia cards & 3 hard drives. My question is on startup what is the average startup time. I'm running XP Pro and object desktop. Also, I'm running zone alarm firewall and Norton anti-virus. The system is running rather slow and I wanted to see if it's due to Norton. I have Adaware, Spybot & Windows Defender which I run once a week. I keep only the necessary programs that need to operate on startup, but it seems the system is still slow

Zone Alarm is a firewall, but they also have an anti-virus program. I also have adaware and spybot on my system, so I am just looking for a non-invasive or memory hog anti-virus program. McAfee is supposedly a lot less invasive then Norton. I am almost positive that its norton thats slowing my system down.

System Startup in Object Desktop Stardock Forums

I just recently installed object desktop and I had a question regarding startup performance. My system is an AMD athlon 64 3200, 2 gb ram, 3 hard drives and I'm running XP pro. I also have Norton Anti-Virus installed. From what I have heard norton is a performance hog and during bootup it seems to take an excessive amount of time to complete the startup.
