I agree with all your points. I was hoping for a more complex planetary populations system, for instance you conquer a star system and then have the option to slaughter them all, bring the people of the world into your empire (You would probably have to station x number of ships for x number of turns to quell resistance) or free the citizens and allow the orginal inhabitants of the world to reclaim it (if the planet had already been conquered by a third race) I know that for my last

Now we have 3d graphics are we gonna see a big huge green laser out of the death star... oh sorry 'terror star'. A star system being destroyed would probably be a fairly big explosion. Can't wait to see it
Unhappy planets that revolt should declare their independence and form a new minor race
Has anyone played rome total war where you assign a family member to an army and he has his own stats, advantages and disadvantages. Implementing this but using officers and assigning them as the leader of a fleet. This would give your units more personality and a greater sense of loss when destroyed
It would be too much to program the AI at this late stage
oh ok, it was just in gc1 on the galactic map a sector that was shaded blue was owned by you. I just assumed that this meant it was your territory. Thanks anyway
I like better a satellite defense system than mines, watching a Stargate rerun, Daniels create this satellite weapon system that could destroy a gul mothership. Maybe something like that would be good. mayito. Isn't a satellite defence system just planetary defences
I always wanted a turn based empire building game with huge 3d real time battles... Rome total war I love you
In gc2 do races respect eachothers territory. It really got on my nerves in gc1 when alien ships are flying next to my major planets. Im a protective guy I like my own space so I dont want aliens flying in my territory willy nilly. Is there gonna be restrictions on where races can travel (with exceptions of freighters and constructors). I would like territory treaties in diplomacy options, heres the options I would have 1) No right of passage 2) Complete right of pa
Nah cloaking is just annoying
I agree but I was suggesting no ability to build ship for this specific minor race
You could add an eco friendly civ as a minor race. An idea is a peaceful offshoot of the drengin that fled thier world hundreds of years ago and now live in peace abandon agression and live in harmony blah blah blah. This race shouldn't build any ships or new colonies as thier eco friendly and ships are noisy and polluting and they have no reason for space travel. Thier planet quality should be extremely high and anyone who is on friendly terms with them should get a morale boost as they can
'Invasions work on the same concept as gc1 but with animation. Dunno how that effects good civs, presumably you arent supposed to invade too much.' Thats kinda dissapointing. I thought the invasion and population of planets would have improved and become more complex in gc2
They shouldn't have the option to surrender to anyone else. Its not very likely that when britain was expanding its empire when they invaded india, the indians wouldn't be allowed to surrender thier territory to someone totally random like japan. It just wouldn't happen and shouldn't in the game, they should only be able to surrender to their aggressors
Yeah with the third suggestion if its like galciv1 its integrated in the game like the text when a technology is researched or in diplomacy dialogue. I don't mind jokes in game as long as there not too often and a bit varied
I figured these were simple ideas and can be implemented at this late stage. Any thoughts?
Hi there all! As someone who is fairly new to the galciv world I thought I should give you a few thoughts. I bought galciv 1 about 4 months ago (love it by the way), and heard galciv2 was coming out so i thought goody! As someone who doesn't know galciv inside out I've got a few suggestions, and I think newer players might relate to my suggestions. 1) More identity for races - Although the races are great, I just felt that we should know a little more about them. On the
Good well thought out ideas, think it'll be too late to implement in the game though but could maybe come out in expansion pack
If your flagship is destroyed, a popup window should appear saying 'the empire is in disbelief as the flagship is destroyed blah blah blah'. Lowering molale for your empire raising it for the race you are at war with. Same kind of thing should happen when conquering homeworlds
Also think it shouldn't be available straight away, when one race discovers a certain tech it unlocks it
Fair enough late minor races should't be too far behind but giving them the same technology as a vast research superpower unbalances the game too much
bump
was in gc1 as well
Or just copy of civ4 and be unable to attack for 10 turns. When your overwhelmingly powerful aginst a race you've been at war with they should be able to surrender and become your permentant ally ala alpha centauri Is it me or are all my ideas just ripping off other games. Im gonna put my head in the microwave to spark some imagination
My understanding is that the whole point of cinematic fleet battles is 1) You can see how effective your own ship designs are, how effective they are with other ships in the fleet, what improvements you can make to your existibg designs etc. 2) They look pretty
