This is just an estimate, but I think SkinStudio 6 has been around for about 6 months now (including it's beta and final release). And from what I see, the amount of skins with WindowBlinds 6 features can almost be counted on all fingers, and maybe a toe or two. The only option is being transitional. Instead of providing the alternative, which is much better, faster & stronger, Stardock should have taken the time to make to enhance both the old and new builds of their applications. Now,

I've decided that today's skinning community is dying. It can be argued that our veteran talent has been either been bought out by Stardock or left the game. Or that perhaps our new talent is a little too new. Regardless of these views, I think statistically today's quality of themes have degraded and I believe I may have an understanding as to why; Windows Vista. Since Windows Vista has been released, we've seen quite a shockwave throughout the skins and themes community. This is both
Hmm, I've had a little read on the internet, and it seems not many people get away with redefining the hotkey without the use of a third-party application. I swear I used an application not too long ago, which allowed you too change various hidden preferences in Windows Vista, and I remember how it specifically allowed you to swap the Alt+Tab/Windows+Tab functionality around. It may have even been TweakVista Beta :SURPRISED: [quote]I don't think you can. Perhaps your oth
Hello Everyone, My keyboard utilizes the existance of the Windows Key with it's own unique function like key. Unfortunatly, this is inconvinent for Windows Vista, as the default Flip3D hotkey requires the use of the Windows Key. So I was curious whether anyone knows how to change hotkeys so I could replace Alt+Tab's default Flip, to Flip3D? Would be super-cool if anyone could help out :CONGRAT: Cheers, Josephs

The process remains running but it is doing nothing. Exactly, I didn't mean to suggest the termination of DWM.exe, I meant how you've explained with the Basic version of DWM. (The process remains running but it is doing nothing.) If this could be equated to a USI1 Skin, then we would use less memory. What we've figured out here, is DWM Comes in two flavors, Active and Inactive (However
This is not the case for people who have older graphics cards without DWM support as their drivers DO have 2d acceleration. Which Drivers? Their Video Drivers? What kind of Video Driver which supports 3D DWM wouldn't have 2D Acceleration.. Perhaps my idea of DWM differs to yours? All I know, is that when we're talking 3D Aero, we're talking +30MB Memory. And I also know that when we're using the Windows Classic Scheme, or the Windows
Hello Everyone, This is mainly a suggestion directed at the developers of SkinStudio. Recently, I've created a UIS1 Skin in SkinStudio Classic, And I've added the additional Vista components using SkinStudio 6. Which is all good, however, I've noticed that SkinStudio and WindowBlinds together use the Aero DWM Interface when applying skins. This is fascinating, because the nature of the UIS1 Skin is to provide compatibility and <span s

IT WAS ME!!!!!!!!!
Stardock have made some pretty nifty developer dodads in the past. Take a look at SkinStudio Classic. That program has some pretty neat features in it, such as Batch Image Recoloring. Well.. What if IconPackager had Batch Image Resizing . And with one click of a button, WindowsXP 128x128 Icons where converted to Windows Vista 256x256 Icons. Why would I say such a thing? Well I don't know about you other Vista Users, but browsing through explorer with 256x256 icons is
Nice too see that Stardock have finally ironed out the kinks I like TweakVista, lot's of useful features! Is that annual power consumption feature new?
What if when skin is done, don't Zip for Distribution, just zip the folder skin is created in then rename that. When we .zip for distribution, whether outside or inside of SkinStudio, it archives the the local folder that the skin contents are stored in. The local folder is specified within SkinStudio settings, and contains the .UFF SkinStudio reads and the corresponding files for use with the skin. Once again, archiving these files will contain the .
Save as a zip file then rename the .zip to .wmz. That doesn't work, because the SkinStudio Universal Skin Format exports (whether it's .zip, .usz, .wba or .gui) all of the skin files, being .BMP's or whatever, as well as the .uff file, which only SkinStudio reads. Windows Media Player reads from .wms files, which is what SkinStudio should convert it's .uff files to, assuming it would export my skin as a .wmz . The syntax of the <I
Hello Everyone, I'm needing some help with saving my WMP Skin in SkinStudio 5. To start creating a Windows Media Player skin in SkinStudio, the only format I could select from the ' N ew File ' menu was " Universal FreeForm Skin (UFF) for Windows Media Player ", I judge this is normal. I then progress to create my skin. However, it was only until recentl
Not anymore.... Thanks Jafo What you doing for Anzac day? :o
Yes, 2006 was a great year for skinning! Now that I look back on it, everyone did some excellent work! Good luck for this year guys (Oh, small typo on my name )
Haha, pretty funny It was a give away which one was Vista though, Windows Vista doesn't have a taskbar resizer (It does have Quicklaunch resizers, but not the actual strip used to size the bar itself)!
Hey Josephs, see Corky's Reply here Well in conclusion, I've managed to fix the SkinStudio bugs aswell as learn something. The issue with the " Per-Pixel Preview " was that if you're creating a skin that has less than 5 Standard Window buttons ( Close, Maximize etc.. ), Then the Per-Pixel Preview seems to get upset.<
Try deleteing everything here: C:\Documents and Settings\XXXXXX\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\SkinStudio Thanks for your Reply Zubaz, I investigated that folder, and it's apparent that I have no such directory as " ..\Application Data\Stardock\.. " Very Strange.. I would have thought that directory would have been there..
The Zapper should work. Thanks for that Suggestion KiloKrash! I Zapped SkinStudio from my computer, and started Stardock Central. This time, it took alot longer to download, especially this " sp.sdc " file. This looked like the light shining down, but alas, no luck. SkinStudio's settings remain the same. Aswell as the bu
