I think I may have found my own answer in the post "Bootskin Lies". Still appreciate any additional input from others though.

I finally got around to making a bootskin of my own and ran into a problem with the progress bar. Everything previews perfect in Sootskin and when the screen first comes up at reboot, but as the progress bar cycles across "its area", that area gets painted the same color orange as the progress bar and remains that color for the rest of boot. Also I have an orange line all along the left side of my screen at bootup which is not part of the 640 x 480 bg image. Anyone else had this and know what I
