But it's been proven time and time again that for rendering speed IE is no match at all for either Firefox or Opera. It opens quicker, but that's because, as you said, it's tied into the OS. I'd say the inherent security risks there far outweigh the convenience of having your browser start a second or two earlier.

Actually, the ATi card has full shader model 2.0 support, it's just that the nVidia card has shader model 3.0. It makes very little difference though, and in picking your card I'd be looking at the difference in performance/value between the two cards and not worry about the shader model version, as few (or possibly no) games (to my knowledge) currently require or even prefer 3.0.

Corky, I don't see any reason why OS X couldn't be used as a large network platform, it is UNIX-based after all, and UNIX-based OSes run the majority or internet servers I believe. OS X Client can be used as a server about as well as XP Pro, maybe moreso because of the extra free UNIX-based/open source software available for it. And of course there's OS X Server which I'm sure is just as competent as Windows Server in most, if not all, respect
