ppplleeaassee include an economy system change (seperate spending sliders for production / research, then a split slider for military / social so that you can use all the labs and all the factories you did build at the same time, it makes no sense at all that lab scientist should stop working when you increase the factory output) i dont really care for other features ...
MegaVolt
id like to see tax income proportinal to tax payers, not to its square root it just makes high pop totally useless
population is useless for economy because taxes go with the square root of population so a 4x higher pop rate will only double your taxes, which is simply not worth building all these morale buildings if you play with only one planet it can hold 10b ppl anyway, i'd stick to that or build max 1 farm more is simply wasted, tax buildings are way better
great i'd love to be able to play gc2 with cedega, even reduced graphics would be fine
just add something like: Laser III: Base Size 8 + 10% Base Damage 2 Size Improvement 1+2% Damage Improvement 1 this could even be done with a small script (the base damage and size values have to be stored somewhere alrdy, just read them out and save them in the xml file) so there is no need to edit all files manually
writing galciv2 in open GL and SDL would be awesome and i'd even buy a second gc2 license for that but its not what i ment leaving galciv2 with direct3d is fine but you might just try to talk to the cedega developers so they can support galciv2 with their emulation software (i know, wine is not an emulation - whatever <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 ALIGN="a
PLEEEAASSEE implement the economy makeover (seperate sliders for production / research , has been discussed in the forums a while ago, i think you know what i mean) thats the most important feature by far for me
capital ships are way more powerful then a fleet of small ones defense is the key here small ships can have an attack of maybe 30 each tops (with high tech weapons!) huge ships can have 80 defense without much effort (defense tech is MUCH cheaper then the offense tech) so the small ships will never even leave a scratch on the huge one and they will be blows to peaces without the loss of a single capital ship small fighters are just useless in lategame (and
i go neutral, stay out of war (trade, diplomacy) and with via tech victory most times i try to win via military means but even if this is going good i usually get to tech victory first conquering stuff just takes too much time compared to research some techs (starbases + NLC = 3000 tech points per turn on my last tech capital )
its just so much easier to win a game without fighting a single war (playing on crippling!) with tech victory last game i was evil and wanted to conquer the galaxy i got that evil beam weapon and thought "great, now i can go crazy attacking my enemies" and that worked quite well - but still, before i conquered even half of the galaxy i won a tech victory (i ran out of other stuff to research! i was through with all industry/research/social/influence/diplomacy techs, had one defen
i'd also like to use DD, i use it for everything else here in germany and i dont want to get another card just for the expansion ...
there are 3 religions in the game, good, neutral and evil think thats enough
in the last patch, tech victory got "nerfed" because the other races now see you going for it and start to dislike you this is very, very good but imho it doesnt fix the real issue with the tech tree (and tech victory) for this victory, you just need to research one tree this would be fine if this tree was by far the most expensive, but it isnt to be clear: it is the most expensive, but not by far imho th
aphro is supposed to work on every planet if you build it on one of yours
good is just great as it is, everyone starts to like you even with low military you can easily win a diplo victory (when you get rid of that evil guys, which is usually no problem with a strong alliance) the armor techs could be beefed up, i'd like to see a super armor at the end of the tech tree that just good can research and thats better then anything available to the other alignments the same for evil would be great, a new weapon at the end of the tree better then anything any
weepy has a point here
some games ago i got a trade line generating 250 BC per turn on average, i got about 80-90 BC out of each of my 12 trade lines having 5 planets, that made a huge difference when you boost your planets with starbases (4 bases next to research and manufactoring capital) you simply cant pay for all this just with taxes last game my research capital got 3055 research points per turn about 1300 of those were free but i had to pay for the rest ... trade made it possible
try to get colony ships out every 2 turns, buildings every 3 turns if you want a big peace of the cake but if you ctrl-n to get a planet like this i'd maybe let the AI colonize more to make it even
i second that opinion my last games there were no real wars going on only exception was my last game where like 5 turns before my tech victory the drengin and yor (both strong) started fighting and the korx (medium) attacked me (weak military, strong economy and way superior tech) but this happends some turns before tech victory, the whole time before and the games before that the univ
bsg is the best sci fi show ever ! babylon 5 is close behind and it has better space battles i dont mind the shaky cam at all i just dont like that "low tech" sci fi scenario of bsg, but they compensate with a great story (the new baltar is imho the best sci fi character ever created)
tax revenue is sqrt of pop times some factor so at 9 bill pop, you get lets say 300 income at 25 bill pop you get 500 income stock market gives you 30% econ increase, which is about 100 income on that 9 bill world so building 2 stock markets is a LOT better then getting those 1-2 farms and 2-3 morale buildings 2 stock markets will give you the same money AND make your pop happy 25 bill pop will may the same money but you need morale, food etc its simply not wor
it was too easy to bribe AIs to war or trade for their starbasis in 1.0X and now in 1.1 it is too difficult please stardock, find something in between
i'd like to see the following simulation: take a fleet of 10 ships, 10 attack and 10 defense each (lets say beam, can be any one weapon/armor type) then let em fight vs a fleet of 10 ships without defense and just 15 attack then 16 attack then 17 attack and so on, until 50:50 win chance is reached so we see how much more attack does compensate those 10 shields (for both combat systems)
i always use 3-4 factories on each planet and let most of them produce constructors (and their social stuff, mostly neutral learning centers ) my manufactoring capital then has starbport, capital, omega shipyard and then factories only (no entertainment stuff, 5bill ppl can be happy without it) i surround it with 4 fully loaded econ starbases and then it can produce my whole fleet all other p
