By switching to the Windows 10 start menu option I'm no longer seeing this issue. The below image is what was happening with the Windows 7 view. Frankly, I don't recall if Windows 7 had a box like this around the start menu.

Thanks. That was not something I expected to do because I never had to on Windows 10 once unpinning apps. This is fine though. It seems to remain "hidden" with a reboot as well.
I'm trying to use the Windows 10 look and feel with Start11, but i has an issue. I do not like to see any pinned applications; just the list of applications installed in alphabetic order. On Windows 10 when I unpin all the applications the panel for pinned applications is removed, but with Start11 I just have a big panel with nothing in it (after having unpinned applications in it). Is there a way to make this go away?
I'm having an issue with the customization of the Start menu with Start11. I've selected to use the Windows 7 style and it's wrapped a fairly thick black box around the popup application list. I've selected not to use a black boundary in the drop down for this (2 choices are with or without) without change. Can anyone describe how to change this? My laptop is Windows 11.
