I used MSE on my main computer. Twice in 2012 it allowed the Sirefef virus to infect the machine. If I recall correctly it was Sirefef.M and Sirefef.R. Sirefef completely disabled MSE, as well as deleting my restore points, barring my ability to access components of the Control Panel, inhibited my ability to boot to Safe Mode with Networking, disabling the Start/Shutdown, barring RUN commands and on and on.

I just logged into GameStop/Impulse and received a notice that my Object Desktop subscription was about to expire, and I should renew and/or backup my programs. I believe that my Object Desktop subscription expires in mid 2013. That is also what is reported on my registrations page at Stardock Store. Should I just ignore the warning message?

Yes, thanks. I did not mean to imply that the way I restored my old drivers was the only method. My Alienware has 7 sets of drivers in the nVidia folder, and I stopped using nVidia on that machine a year ago. Time to do some housekeeping!

I haven't yet seen any trend on the machines reporting the error. I've seen laptops and desktops, various GPU's, 32 and 64 bit. I initially did the upgrade, and the process failed as described. I then rolled back, and reinstalled the new drivers using the clean install. That too failed, for me. It is good to know that the problem isn't universal though. I have nVidia on just the one machine so I'll wait a bit and see if there is a new versio

I installed Tiles, but didn't find it that useful and removed it. I kept reading reviews by users who said it was in fact really handy so I thought I must be missing something. I reinstalled, and now I can't imagine using my computer without it. The ability to scroll through my (categorized) shortcuts by simply bumping my mouse up against the edge of the screen is very handy and time-saving. It completely decluttered my desktop, and slides out of sight when not in use.

Although I agree that 64Bit IE9 is not as robust as it should be, the 3 people who have experienced the issue have all been using the 32 Bit version.

It seems to be related to "compatibility view". When checked, there is a problem. When unchecked, no problem. At least that is what happens for me.
