It's not to say the idea \ use-case is not sound - quick easy access to desktop assets from anywhere - it very much is. There is another idea we have on the table that would be cleaner and
People who create Windows shells and GUIs in particular often deal with the limitations of 'z-order' which is the layering designed into the Windows concept that sees the desktop wallpaper drawn first....then icons and gadgets etc second...then inactive windows third and active [focused] windows last....and pop-over warnings etc on top of them even. Having Microsoft define the icons as le
Finally, something in the last six months that inspires me enough to consider renewing my Object Desktop subscription. I'm definitely in the camp that prefers a clean native Windows 10 look with relatively small tweaks as opposed to heavy retro skinning.
Okay, thanks. This will assist me in deciding whether to renew my Object Desktop subscription.
While feedback from us to you on any movement for a new version of Fences has been sparse, that silence should not be paired with thinking that Fences has been ignored internally - it has not. I am reviewing this thread right now (as I do often) to ensure I have logged all that could be considered for an update. While I could lay out some valid reasons for any delay, a primary one is to get it right - to ensure we put out the bes
I have requested Microsoft to create their own version of FENCES as a built in feature. I think everyone here should do the same since these guys are not responding.
Good idea. Please provide a link to your suggestion so we can vote for it.

Does Stardock have a roadmap of enhancements/features it's planning for products included in Object Desktop? If so, can you share it with us? I'm especially interested in DeskScapes, Fences, Groupy and Start 10.
It is worth noting that Start10's purpose in life is to offer the Windows 7 style menu on Windows 10 so we have to be careful when adding features that we do not stray too far from that and thus alienate those users who specifically chose it in order to keep something familiar.
Is your audience of people looking for a Windows 7 style menu growing, stagnant or shrinking? My guess would be the latter. On the other han

I like the Start 10 Modern Style, but end up going back to the native Windows 10 Start menu because of the following shortcomings: Poor presentation of Universal Applications: Start 10 basically punts when it comes to Universal apps and dumps them into a scrolling list—a very long list if you have a lot of UWP apps installed. It's not possible to organize these into folders. It may be a Windows 10 limitation, but still frustrating. The standard Windows 10 Start menu let's

Hello basj, I made a similar request here , but Waleedov did a nice job of articulating it clearly/succinctly and posting a dedicated topic. If you think it would help, please also forward my request to the team, so they can see multiple customers want this feature. Maybe you could call it "Sticky Groups". Alternatively, you could add an option to make individual Saved Groups sticky. Then, in addition to the current behavior
Hello Neil. Thanks for providing some guidance for a new Start 10 user. I tested drag and drop, renaming, creating new folders, etc. and now see your point that it makes sense to use tools already built into Windows for Start file/folder management. However, I'm still concerned about possible negative side effects of modifying Start Menu folders. For example, how do you restore everything back to stock or recover from accidents while modifying Start menu items? Will changing things ha

As one of my favorite Stardock apps, I'm happy to see Groupy continuing to improve. Here's my biggest wish for a future version: Currently Groupy can automatically combine new instances of the same executable or let you create a saved group of apps so the resulting shortcut will open them all in a group. I wish Groupy could also make different apps automatically stick/group to each other if opened individually instead of having to manually group them or resort to saved groups which is
What you are asking is the actual reason to use Start 10. You want those tile sections to be folders. ... ... If you have a lot of stuff Start 10 is extremely useful. It also gives easy access to the Windows 10 menu or you can have it the other way where it defaults to the Windows 10 way and you can easily select the Start 10 way when you have to dig deeper.
Thanks for your thoughtful response. So
Groupy is one of my favorite Stardock apps. It's probably most useful to those who tend to have a lot of app windows open and are very particular about keeping them organized. One of the most obvious examples is Groupy can automatically group multiple File Explorer instances into a single multi-tab window (a very welcome feature since Microsoft has apparently dropped Sets for the foreseeable future). Another example: I like grouping audio apps like Sonos, Spotify, Audible and Pandora.
Feature Question: Does/will DeskScapes 10 have a command line interface? I was using an app named John's Background Switcher which has a CLI to allow external calls to it's wallpaper switching capabilities (e.g. from Windows task scheduler).
New (actually returning) OD user here who hasn't tried Start10 yet. From what I understand, there doesn't seem to be any reason to install it if you prefer the Windows 10 style menu. It's strictly for those who want to replace it with a custom or legacy style menu. There's one thing I wish Start10 or some OD utility could do that would inspire me to install it immediately: ~ The ability to assign a single custom icon to tile group folders ~
