"Europe's obsession with media playing technologies developed in the United States (as seen with its millions in fines against Microsoft) seems confined to media player." Is this tongue in cheek ? I really doubt its some kind of anti-american stunt by us pesky europeans (I'm a european citizen and i live in the UK , yes that country that is a US war ally in Iraq and Afganistan ,The UK is part of the EU) I mean us europeans just have a tendency to write to our elected politician

Yes and lets remember the whole "home taping is killing music" When i was teenager i had huge collection of albums on tape that friends had copyed for me , just like i would copy any new original albums i bought for friends, so correct me if i'm wrong did the music industry go into recession in the 80s/90s ? LOL As usual the people with no artistic input into art be it music or image are usually the ones that defend their ability to take a "cut".The real truth is the RIAA will have a real m

Uh, the DVD writing? What about the DVD writing ? I've backed up a couple of store bought DVDs onto dvd-r for taking on holiday using the same software tools I used in XP. The only DRM that is in Vista is there for a reason, to allow MS to support IPTV & Cable cards, big holywood content providers demand it and finally my MCE can do what it s

No kidding?! You learn something new everyday! Maybe people can stop smoking it then....or maybe they'll make it legal? Yeah....and pigs will fly!! Well George Washington had fields full of it but then maybe he was just some yokel nut job ! Paper is made from trees and people have been

I think when hypertransport 3 arrives with L3 shared memory Intel will be sorry they only have a performance lead due to their larger manufacturing ability so that they can be talking about moving 45nm when AMD have yet to make 65nm. Why is AMD a cop out ? a smaller company started by ex-Intel employees that designed a better chip and proved a worthy David to Goli

From running Vista on my laptop (Turion ml52 X2/1GBram/GeF6150) and my desktop (Athlon3000+/1GBram/GeF6600)I've found it to be alot smoother and runs much nicer. So much that I have only used XP for playing games (display drivers are better and i need to overclock my 6600 to get nicer graphics)

I really hope they make a lovely new design , but glass ? GLASS? isnt Aero glass ? ok dark glassy surfaces still I'm sure the GUI will look excellent. And don't forget Core Animation will be a part of Leopard so it may have numerious more tricks up its sleeve than Vista.

I think the statement "That's not a knife....THIS is a knife....." describes the difference between Shapeshifter and Windowblinds. And for all the calls of " Mac have been skinning for years" not on an Intel system with Rosetta so yes this is a resonably new system. Why are Mac users so touchy ? oh no wait its all the extra money they pay for core 2 duo machines compared to PCs <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 ALI

The problem is that Intel are the worlds largest maker of graphics chips regardless of which end of the market they dominate, nvidia and ati also make integrated chips and AMD could buy ati because of their small size and low market share and because THEY DON'T MAKE GRAPHICS CHIPS! Intel does so it IS anti-competitive for them to buy Nvidia , I see where you're coming from BakerStreet with the amount of dodgy mergers that have happened but this one will not and it looks just like a story leaked

I doubt any problems will arrise with drivers for intel/ati products as AMD will still make money if you add an ATI card to your intel setup and AMD have said they will continue to support and create ATI graphics products. The whole fusion idea is surely very interesting especially from a customization point of view , it could add some very interesting graphic and even physics abilitys to the average desktop , i can't wait to see how stardoc

Even if this isn't a scam (and it really looks like one) I don't see why its racist ?! If the federal government has decided to grab the assets of a criminal it shouldnt be hard to prove that you are not the same person. Although that is why this stinks of phishing as Paypal would need to associate you with the other Jesus, by address or bank account, the federal government can't just pick a criminals name and grab anything from everyone with the

I doubt any number of corporations could bankrupt the EU, do you have any idea the kind of numbers that memeber states turn over ? France,Germany,Holland,Italy,Swizerland,Ireland and Great Britain to name a few ! If Intel has acted uncompetitively then they should pay the price, AMD and Intel are both American Corporations so why all the anti-EU , Pro USA ranting I have no idea !! AMD might be in good shape now but I'm sure the lawsuits being bro

Again, if you are doing no wrong, there's nothing to be afraid of. Whatever happened to the land of the free and innocent until proven guilty ? people have a right to privacy and if anyone thinks that the US governement watching the internet will make the country safer is in a dream land.

the real point is that you can never stop file sharing but you can shoot down the big easy programs that give people an illusion of legality , just like home copying , its frowned upon but is overlooked because you arrest the guy on the street corner selling movies and music just to line his pocket. Its disgusting to see the likes of Windowblinds appear with cracks on download sites when it only costs $19.99

I think the problem being described here has nothing to do with WB , it's the auto download feature of your chosen web browser, untick the "do this automatically from now on" to get the save or open prompt. As for automatically applying the skin , it is very easy to click that bubble by accident as a .wba file has no way of auto installing without user intervention

Everyone keeps talking about Sony going down, when ? the rootkit has been and gone, the battery problems will only hurt their OEM battery sales and if anyone thinks the PS3 is going to sink then you obviously have yet to see the price difference between PS3s and HD-DVD players , in the UK its like £50 (around $100) small price for HD games as well as HD movies on your
