n00b shareware question

n00b shareware question

Hi all. I have downloaded and installed the shareware version of WindowBlinds. It seems really interesting and I've been reading the forums quite a bit. I cannot seem to get it to apply any skin other than Retro which came with the shareware. I have tried downloading several different skins, none of which work. I'd like to buy and use this program, but if I can't get it to work, I'd rather not waste the money.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be most appreciative.

Cheers.

So, this is wierd. I went and deleted one of the graphics controllers. After I did that, one of the two instances of the plug and play monitor dissappears. It tells me to reboot, so I do. When windows starts back up, the last skin I tried to apply, GT3, is now on the desktop. I get a couple of popup balloons telling me that new hardware is found. I open up WB config and what do you know, I still cant apply a different skin. I go back to device manager, and what do you know, I've still got the 2 graphics controllers...

argh

Venus try this...open up WB5 config, click on add skin and see if the themes you downloaded are in your wb folder. If it is try applying them that way...

Bichur - thanks for the link. Your google skills are strong

Well, I updated the driver and that seems to have done the trick. I knew I should have thought to have done that first.

Thanks to all y'all for your help...

Certainly reflects well on this community. I'm gonna play around with it for awhile and then probably buy it soon. Am I correct in understanding that the shareware version does not support see-through windows as would occur with a Vista skin? If not, is there a good vista skin to try?

Thanks again!

I don't know if the trial version supports Vista themes or not. So, I can't help ya there. sorry...

But, if you try a search in WB for Vista you'll get all slew of them...they're all nice..

Have fun

glad it all worked out...got scared after I told ya to kill one, then read the intel site

the shareware will only support the per pixel on the skins supplied, not any downloaded skins

not google (too many ads) - Clusty (firefox extension - also one available for IE - scroll to bottom): Link

a clusty search looks like this: Link

If the problem returns you might want to try disabling one of the graphics adapter

What graphics card do you have?

good question

Guys.... you might want to read the WindowBlinds 5.0 System Information Report,... the graphics card is listed there..

Everything else aside......stop trying to remove the duplicate entries in Device Manager. They're suppose to be there......
