Any way to make WB LESS annoying?

I seriously can't believe WB doesn't save your specific color settings (advanced options> more advanced options) after you restart your comp.

Is there ANY way for me to keep my specified color settings w/o using skin studio? that program for a total newb, is DEFINATELY overwhelming.

Any registry changes I could make? Any programs I could use to save my color settings?

Please.

Are you using the trial version or the paid version? I believe the color is retained on reboot only in the paid version.

Just as an FYI, changing classic colors in SkinStudio is just as easy as doing it in Windows. Infact, they are practically one in the same...try edit a skin in SkinStudio, and then go to the Classic Colors section...it will be instantly recognizable. You don't have to fiddle with any advanced features of it...

Only way is to do as Hus has said. The reason the colors change after restart is that you are changing Windows settings not WB, when you restart the settings for the WB skin you are using are applied.

That's the thing...I tried editing the colors w/ SS and saving it but like 30 critical errors came up..So I just gave up. lol

When edit then save using SkinStudio, ignore the errors and just save. Some WB skinners hand code using notepad, when checked in SKS normally will have errors but skins are fine. When hand coding things can be added or tweaked in ways SKS does not do by default, this is what the errors most likely are.

I know this should be easier than going into Skin Studio.  Isn't there a reason why we have a button named "Apply the skins color scheme"?  Doesn't it work?

I've never had any problems with the skin colorizing in windowblinds. It always saves my color settings after reboots and after switching skins.

That is what WB does. Actually, the skin's colour scheme is what is overriding the colours that are being set through Display. Uncheck that and it may fix.

Colorizing isn't what he's talking about.

You mean the checkbox in Basic Settings? Works for me.

WB applies the skins colour scheme on reboot which is why any changes you made via display properties are lost.

We are looking into providing a simpler method to change those colours within the WB UI itself as we did with much older versions of WB.

i remember that a previous version of WB i used (not sure what exact v. ) retained the desktop color theme (applied via display properties) after reboots. now (wb paid 5.0) doesn't even do that.

WindowsXP itself is weird about that stuff, so I wouldn't be so quick to blame stardock. WinXP is much more likely to lose your custom colors than any previous Windows version was (i never had it happen once on any other windows version).
