Aquarium Desktop help!

Hi, I'm having problem with this program. I'm new to all of these and it's gettin' frustrating.

Anyway, somehow it's not saving my settings. I also cannot bring up the "remove element" option, and when it does come up, the only thing I can remove is the "Chest". I can "remove all" and start putting up elements one by one, but when I restart the computer, I have all the "elements" again, that I previously removed.

Please help...

Thank you.

FYI: I got this together with Windowblinds 5 when I purchased it.

Thanks again.

It sounds like it may have not installed correctly. Try uninstalling Aquarium Desktop from your system and re-download it from either Stardock Central or the standalone link if you didn't install it during the past couple weeks (use the Support form here https://www.stardock.com/support.asp to get the download link). Also be sure to check your C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\Aquarium Desktop\ folder and make sure the user_config.xml file has been deleted (it stores the various settings). The do a reinstall and see if that fixes you up.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try that, and see if it will help.
I did install/re-install it several times, and in fact re-downloaded thru the support link.

I didn't delete the user_config.xml file though. So, hopefully that will clear the problem.

Thanks again.

Okay, no worky...

Still the same problem. The "remove elements" is borked!!!!

And it always goes back to the original settings where there's a "chest" and "anchor", and some pot with bubbles when I reboot...

sigh...

If you have IconX loaded--unload it and restart the Aquarium.

Hmm, I don't think I have IconX... Is that the same as Icon Packager?

I'll try unloading that one...

Thanks for the reply...

sigh...

No worky...

FYI

I'm running Windows XP home on Turion 64MT notebook.
512MB memory with ATI Radeon Express 200M...

Hopefully somebody out there can figure it out...

Thanks!

Bump....

I've been waiting too.

I tried Yarlen's fix and it didn't work for me either. In fact, after the uninstall I restarted my computer and it would not complete the shutdown portion of the restart without a cold boot. I also notice a few additional problems beyond what has already been reported. The wallpaper will never "finish" applying.

I've included a screenshot to show what I mean. [img=http://img319.imageshack.us/img319/2748/aqdsktop3vx.th.jpg]">

There's also another thread in the section which has not recieved a response to this issue Link

Here's what I've got:

Windows XP SP2
Sony VGN-A690 Laptop
1.9GHz Centrino
1 GB Ram
ATI Radeon X600 PCIE 128 MB at 1920x1200

Running: Object Dock+ 1.20a.015, RightClick 1.10a.006, Iconpackager 3.10.101, Windowblinds5 5.00.001, Enhanced Dialog 0.90[b].005
Installed but not running: IconX 1.10.007, DX3 3.10.042 and Object Bar 1.99e[b].002 and WindowFX 2.20c[b].003

Other Software: Sysmetrix 3.4.0, Maxtor One Touch (100 Gb External Drive)

I only use it at home because it doesn't play nice with my dual screen (docking station) at work. Before the reinstall I had about 20 anchors that I didn't add and several other items I'd like to have removed but couldn't. It'd be nice to see a fix or work around for this. I'd be interested in the fish pack if I can get it working correctly.

Hi gang,

Nutz.   You should escalate this to Support by either visiting https://www.stardock.helpserve.com/ or by sending an email to support@stardock.com (both will create a support ticket).

LOL! I keep getting more and more stupid anchors, and they are NOT removeable!
I wish I was able to try before I bought. I don't think I will ever buy software that doesn't have a trial version.

Question: Are you using anything like Norton Internet Security, etc?  A script blocking program may be causing issues with this.

Hi Mr. Yarlen,
I have responded to another thread, and also responded to my own support ticket, but for everyone else's curiousness here are some of my specs:
NOT running Norton
XP home SP2
1.5 gigs of RAM
ATI Radeon Xpress 200M graphics card 1280x768 resolution.
Things in the tray: Avast Antivirus (free), Microsoft Antispy, Extensis Suitcase (font searcher), Google Desktop search, ObjectDock (free), Adobe Version Cue
Here is a screenshot of my latest problem of 100% CPU:

I had the same problem, it just doesn`t save my settings,
I think i found the solution.
customize your settings and than just right-click on the fish in the startup thing and click unload aquarium, it works like a save settings button, that`s it.
sorry my english is not the best!!!

Um, I have a similar problem in that the Aquarium Desktop, while very nice, interferes with my QODBC Driver so I shut it down when working with that; however, now there is no Aquarium Desktop icon in my system tray or whatever you call that on the bottom right hand corner of my screen so I can't shut it down and don't know how else to do it?

Anybody know how to shut it down?

I have been trying to replicate this issue. What versions of the software is everyone on? Also who has what extra fish packs installed? I saw some of the system specs so that gave me a good start but I still haven't gotten this to happen yet.

Still trying to shut the aquarium down. Running:

Intel® Core™2 Quad Proc Q6600 (2.40GHz,8MB L2Cache,1066FSB)

4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz - 4DIMMs

256MB NVIDIA® GeForce 8600GTS, 2DVI

Aquarium Desktop Elements Pack3
Aquarium Desktop 2007

Hope this helps!  :)

Sorry I am going to need you to contact us at support@stardock.com. I have been trying out everything posted here and am still unable to replicate this. I will go through the motions with any ticket created on the matter and post something if we find a solution.

I wonder if Bono Blind (and others earlier) figured out the problem back in 2006?

I'm wondering if the box over his head distorts time.

I found that some of the Fish Paks and Elements were being installed in the wrong directories.
Check the path shown above, and if you have to, then move all your Fish Paks under the Fishes folder, and same with the Elements folder.
