Beta 4D bugs

1) at 4x AA, the game stutters a lot and the framerate drops like crazy... not unplayable but very annoying.

2) In the research screen, in the now researching part, the box outlining the research being done has 2 boxes... 1 long and one short, ending right after the tech name, about 2/3 of the long bar.

3) Dunno if something was changed on the approval rate... was having an approval rate of around 75% when I saved my game in 4C. When I loaded said game in BEta 4D, my approval dropped at 7%!!

4) Still can't load large savefiles... it crashes if I try.

5) Got an "effective through year 2232, string not found" in the United Planets tab

6) When clicking on an object to remove it in the upgrade screen, It just won't remove it.

You have some great things and nice additions in there...keep up the nice work!

7) in the Minor Races tab, I only discovered the Scottlingas and pressed on the right scroll tab. As I did that, the game crashed and dropped me in the desktop.

8) When you minimize the game and maximize it again, it draws the border graphics (gray line and stats) but doesn't draw anything on the map...got a black screen.

1) That would indicate that your video card can't handle 4X on the game.  Reminder: You should post your hardware and OS configuration.

4) Saved games from 4C won't work on 4D.

5) Thanks!

6) Will check out.

Also note, there were some changes to morale in 4D... what might have worked in 4c will likely need to be changed for 4D...

Getting the hardware config sure would help

Athlon XP 2700+, 1gig 333Mhz DDR, MSI 6600 GT, 160 Gig HD ATA-133. WinXP SP2

Also, going back to the Minor races tab....now got 4 minor races and as soon as I press a scroll arrow beside the big empire logo, I get a CTD. If I click on the empire icons, it works fine and can select the various races.

9) When I get a Quarterly report (in this case, it was the Interstellar Trade report), I was unable to scroll down to see the text, be it by clicking on the bar or using the arrows.

10) Got attacked by the Arcean Empire and got this text: "We're sorry to inform you, [YourLeaderName], that we decided..."

Hope it helps. Btw, Beta 4D is a very big improvement on 4C. Great work!

11) When I click on one of my colony to check my shipyard, and then decided to click on an uncolonized planet, the uncolonized planet displays the shipyard from my colony instead...

Cannot change the resolution. Before I could change in the INI-File. That does not work anymore for me.
I have a Notebook with GeForce 6800 Ultra Go 256 MB (17" Screen with 1440x900).
Now it is only 1024x768

Greetings,Sascha

AI starbases sometimes show on the main map, even when they are outside your current scanner range. This is confusing, because when you click (double-click?) on them, you get a popup saying that this information is TOP SECRET and you need ADVANCED spy knowledge to see this. If you put a ship within scanner range of the base (which you shouldn't even know the position of in the first place) you can then single-click and see the owner of the starbase.

All AI starbases should have a label that specifies its type: Military, Cultural, Economic or Resource Mining. The graphic does indicate this, but I can't remember which is which, and neither will novice players.

On some planets, the Xeno Farm improvement only yields 3mt / wk. This is no better than a Basic Farm. I have confirmed that the Xeno Farm was NOT in the middle of an upgrade, but was in fact a fully constructed Xeno Farm. This means my planet got a grand total of 6mt / wk (since it started with 3mt / wk). This happened to me in previous Beta versions. I can't figure out why some colonies exhibit this and some do not.

1. autopilot traces on the mini-map aren't updated often enough. Three turns after a ship arrived at it's destination there was still an autopilot track for it on the min-map stretching two sectors.

2. As noted elsewhere the mini-map settings should be saved with the save game and are not.

3. I was the most powerful race (Terrans) had the most planets, the happiest planets, the richest planets, the best military, etc.. and when the GNN report game up for "Most Powerful" the Terrans were listed dead last.

4. The main map graph showed the Terrans as having the highest military but on the Civilization Manager screen the overall military ranking for the Terrans was 4th.

5. A UP vote increased the base speed of constructors to 5 but after a save and restore the base speed was back down to 1.

6. The Terrans started the game as the Tech party but after a save and restore they were now Federalists. This was fixed for 4C but seems to have become "unfixed" for 4D.

7. The Vegan race, with one planet, is out researching every other race in the galaxy.

Bug fix, or new bug? (I'm hoping for new bug, otherwise a good bit of the benefit of miniaturization is gone). Prior to 4D, the sizemod-based part of the size of a component was based on the base hull size of a ship. In 4D, it is based on the post-miniaturization size instead, so while miniaturization is giving you more room, it's also making most of the components larger.

Okay. I figured out what happened here. No matter what political party you choose during game setup the Terrans end up as Federalists when the game starts.

I) During planet invasion, if I hit spacebar to determine the advantage roll the invasion is cancelled and I return to the main screen. Clicking on accept attacks as normal.

II) I'm convinced tht the rankings in quarterly reports are backwards again with weakest race coming 1st.

III) The Altarians offered me a tech exchange, I declined, when I tried to make the exchange myself they flat out refused the swap. Surely they would still find it acceptable?

IV) Alot of time I'm seeing reports refer to me as being Humans even if I'm not playing as Human.

V) Typo - A Yor diplomatic dialogue reads "The terms of the trade appear equil"

Not sure if Stardock want typo's yet but I've seen that one come up twice already.

VI) On the civ management screen, the race comparsion charts slider isn't working.

On the Civilization Management screen, on the Victory tab, the explanation for Conquest Victory has "achieve" misspelled as "acheive".

Starport window has a "String Not Found" error in the lower left "Population". I sent a screen shot to gc2bugs.

The random event about discovering a moon with a web of tunnels filled with precious minerals popped up. The evil choice said (-50 Million people, +203 bc). According to the Civilization Manager, my entire population is only 16 million, so taking the evil choice would wipe me out!

bug:

The Drengin surrendered to me, but there was not popup or anything to tell me about it. I just happened to notice new planets in my colonies list, and saw them on the other side of the main map. I hadn't even met the Drengin yet.

question:

Using "Traditional Warfare" invasion tactics, I have never once seen an improvement destroyed during an invasion. Is this normal? I thought some were supposed to randomly get trashed.

rare bug:

A "ghost image" of one of my ships remained on the main map long after the ship had moved from that tile. It was just an image, and I could not interact with it in any way.

bug:

Ships within range of a Military Starbase are not displaying the bonus attack stats that the "assist" modules should grant them. Is this a display bug, or are the bonuses not applied at all?

bug:

When a Starport is decommissioned from a colony, the military build progress bar should be reset to 0.

bug:

The 200% farming bonus is erroneously being doubled to 400%. I had a planet with a single Xeno Farm on a farm bonus tile, and that planet produced 35 mt/wk. That is (base 3mt + (xeno 8mt * 400%)) = 35 mt. It should have been a total of 19 mt.

bug:

The racial Logistics starting bonus is not being applied. Playing as the regular Iconians, I should start with 6 Logistics. I got "Basic Logistics" tech and had only 3 Logistics (which I got from that tech). I should have had 9 at that point. Playing on, more Logistics techs gave the correct extra bonuses, but I never did get my starting 6 Logistics points.

bug:

The "effective range" circle for a Military Starbase that I constructed was continuously being cut-off into a semi-circle at the point where it crossed the gridline boundary of a sector. This persisted for many turns, but eventually I noticed that the problem just went away.
