evil theme

I really like the evil theme and music! It wasn't so hard to get to evil, when I was negative in money (not paying attention) and getting offered 4225 bc on the disease event to do the bad thing (I don't remember...something about killing 650 million people). Changed the whole direction of my civilization!

Evil is fun. Too bad the windows verision of GC is so biased against evil.

How is it biased against evil?

He just got $4000 for doing one little teeny evil thing.

True, but you are not likely to make too many friends with the Aliens.

Trying to wipe out everybody else at one time may not be too fun.

That is only if you set everyone else as good.

too early to tell how it will affect me. i'm in a gigantic galaxy, ahead technically and building my military. larger than anyone else as well. though i don't want to take them all on.

set to average ai...10 advantage points (6 for speed, 4 for research)...ai players at different settings.

i also notice as i do good things, i can recover back to good. but i'm running out of planets to colonize and have become so evil that it's doubtful i can be "saved" ;-).

How exactly does your morality affect the game ? Will the aliens races of the same alignment be more friendly ? Do you have penalties on trading if you are evil ? Does it affect the metaverse score ?

Thx

My initial impressions with a few games is that the advantages of the bonuses from evil choices outweigh the bad relations with good races. Especially the production bonuses (research bonuses for some reason doesn't seem to show in the planet details - not sure whether that's working properly) of 50% really give a big boost to the planet in the early stages. The good and evil techs seem pretty even, in fact i currently prefer the evil techs - dark side, advanced slavery, master race, etc. So since my second game, I've gone pure evil. Usually, I would gang up with other evil races and beat up the good races first.

I've got no specific details, but:

Good players like each other and will help each other out, especially to fight evil players.

Evil players have diplomacy penalties when dealing with good players. Evil players get along okay with each other but won't hesitate to attack each other if they reckon they can get away with it.

Or you could pick the really evil options..such as the Starship quality +49% or PQ+49% and choose the rest good, thats how most of my games are chaotic evil...im willing to be evil for BIG bonuses, but choose good answers to bring me back up

In terms of good vs evil techs, I'd rather take both. I've heard it's quite easy to lower your alignment so what I'd do is make good choices or neutral choices early on, research the nice good techs (+trade routes, +speed), then start going all out evil and getting the evil techs.

Alternatively you could just go all out good/evil then ask civs with the opposing alignment to hand over their techs. Not as reliable as doing it yourself, but it should do the trick.

Most of the morality choices I get are from colonising planets rather than events (eg 2 headed squirrel/pokemon game) so once all the colonising is done, I think it would take quite a few random events to move it significantly. Should be easier to get them through trade or conquest from opposing morality civ. As an evil civ, the only good tech i miss is hyperwarp as i'm a sucker for speed.

The colonizing ones have less of an affect than the ones that pop up from time to time. The colonizing choices move morality by 1, while random ones move morality by about 10. So you can be good while still choosing the evil choices when colonizing.

Biased against Evil? I don't see this at all. You are substituting short term benefits for long term alliances. Simply a different approach. If several of my planets have a +14% production vs. a -10 percent or something.. that adds up. I've had races shoot me money when I'm evil just to keep me from beating up on them it seems. LOL

It is very cool IMO, that this has been added to the game. Try putting all the AI's on a low level of intelligence, but make them all super good.. and you be wicked evil. FUN!

Evil >>>>> Good

All my planets have +40% PQ or better (yes, i save and load). I want to beat that AI on the highest difficulty/gigantic map)

I didn't even notice how the music changes because I was using the MP3 player. Boy do I feel silly - I actually posted that as a suggestion in that other thread :p

Now I'm going to have to take the dark path again just so I can hear it. :)

Agree that alignment fits in to your overall strategy.

If you want to be a trader/alliance partner, go for good. If you are a warmonger like me, go for evil and use all the goodie bonuses to crush everyone else ;)

I like this alignment thing too, adds a nice flavour to the game.
