Play till the end! Blasted AI threw in the towel too soon and literally affected outcome

Topic says it. Last game I played, "Beginner ". Pah! I don't know what I'm doing but I do know that 2 of the 5 races surrendered to another. I think that's horrible. I know I was ahead some techs above everyone due to AI getting penalty on research/production I havent played a game real far to the end without this crap happening. Also pretty much without shots fired too.

Please give this one a tweak. I don't consider myself no pro but I'll move up the difficulty level. I don't think its right the AI wouldnt stick around long enough to fire some shots.

The AI is a work in progress. Beta 4 is the first time the AI was making a serious attempt to play the game, so there's definitely some things that need tuning. The AI probably gives up too easily, but I don't think the AI should fight it out to the bitter end. First, by surrendering to another race, that player is improving the other players position, most of the time. Second, we've all played games where we knew we had won long before the game was actually over, and it really wasn't fun moving all the units around just to stomp out the last remnants of the enemy (especially bad in RTS games).

Maybe the AI just got bored.

AI: "Beginner level? Why even bother?!? I'm going to the hard drive next door and spin up a game of CIV 4."
Supreme Shogun: "WTF?!? Why does it keep giving up?"

Actually I could spin up a game of Civ 4, but I've been trying real hard to give this a shot.

Civ 4 is the reason why I didn't do any beta testing last week. It is terribly addictive. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Civ 4 and GalCiv 2 both share a similar "zoom to whatever level you like" interface. I like it a lot in both games.

Civ 4 is terribly addictive. With luck, so will GC2 be! I try to run the beta at least once a week, so that I'm actually doing my "job" here, LOL...

The AI won't surrender unless it's at war with someone far more powerful and its population has become tiny and its military has been wiped out.

Well, given that at the beginning they haven't lots of military, I understand better why I have seen lots of surrender in the beginning of the game, even if no troops transporter were available.

Now that just isn't right. The AI should have at least one race they have bad relations with who have constructed some transports before they give up.
