WB5 Program Incompatible List

WB5 Program Incompatible List

Since WB5 is still beta, it seems to have lots of compatibility issues with some of the programs out there.

I would like everyone to post programs that have problems when WB5 is loaded. Please list incompatible issues only if you have tested the program once with WB5 loaded and WB5 unloaded.

My list:
Fable: The Lost Chapters
- Will load game half way then boot back to desktop
Black or unfilled status bars
- pretty sure everyone have seen this, where the bar doesnt layer properly and it just shows a black status bar.
In WB console. The Windows XP and Classic Style has no options in its window. (such as install skin from disk, edit, change skin color, delete, nor apply)
For some reason for only the XP and Classic style the option window is blank. Is this on purpose?

So far I am forced to unload WB5 to run those. It's sad.

My system:
Windows XP Pro SP2
WB 4.96a[b].002
Asus A8N-SLI Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+ [939 socket]
4x 512 MB Geil Ultra Dual Channel DDR400
1x Maxtor 300 GB SATA
1x WD 200 GB SATA
2x XFX Geforce 6800 GT [in SLI mode]
1x SB Audigy 2 ZS
1x NEC 16x DL DVD+/-RW
1x Samsung DVD/CDRW combo drive

VistaXP or Arrow skins make my zoom player so it won't show the video if I switch from window mode to full screen mode or vice versa. It works in the mode I start it though. Any ideas how to fix this?

I've got scrollbar problems with Newsleecher (http://www.newsleecher.com)

It has a VERY customized interface to begin with - main problem is if I am trying to scroll through a LARGE newsgroup header list, you cannot click and hold on the tiny scrollbar using any WB5 skin - you seem to have to have your mouse about 20-30 pixels ABOVE the scrollbar before you see it highlight to pick it up and drag it.

I've only had WB5 a few days, can I presume issues with PowerDVD are well known about, i.e. it only plays back movies if you start your movie from fullscreen mode, doesn't work in windowed mode.

Thanks - great product btw!

Fedorov.

Apps using overlays (powerdvd for example) seem to have problems when anything per pixel is on screen.  If you disable overlay usage in those apps then it should work fine.

We are looking into this to see if we can workaround the problem.

I think its unlikely we will be testing with that then!

I am having problems with Syncback SE. When I move the Syncback window to the side of the screen and beyond the titlebar and menubar disappear and sometimes get scrambled.
This only occurs when I change skin. When I reboot the problem does not occur.

VistaXP causes problems with invisible titlebars and menubars. Again rebooting solves these problems.

IE favourites list is not skinned as the other menu items.

I have tried Syncback SE and I cannot get it corrupt at all.  I have tried changing skins while it is running too.

The IE Favorites menu is not a menu and as such does not support transparency, but it is being skinned.

Gutterball 3D and similar shockwave based games should no longer have a problem with the taskbar appearing on top of the game when in full screen mode.  The problem occured due to the app switching to 16 bit colour which made WB turn off per pixel skinning and in doing so caused the app to shift upwards.

The problem with ACDSee 3.0 has been tracked down to a 3rd party plugin included in the antares skin.  We will be preventing future WB builds from loading this dll as it appears to have no purpose anyway!

I should like to add my experience to that of #20 by lbolton. I too have a black panel on the left hand side of the screen with Copernic Agent Personal. It should have coloured text on a white backgorund. The only way to deal with this is to exclude it from being skinned. The problem has not been resolved with any of the WB5 releases to date.

Best wishes

Ian

Im no software genius when it comes to some computer related things , but I do know of a workaround for those who are having games crash to the desktop. I added the EXE for the games that I had crashing to the Do Not Skin list , and the games dont crash anymore. I dont know why this works, it just did!

Problematic Games : (these all worked fine on XP before installing WB5
Milton Bradley Classic Board Games
Mega Man X3 (Game fails with a Unable to Initalise DirectX error)
NHL 2001 (Exits after you select your teams and the game attempts to change resolution)

VideoLan Client. You can add it to the disabled list and the gui will work, however if you use it to play video in your web browser windowblinds overlays the window makeing you think that its not displaying any video but you can hear it. If you disable windowblinds completely it works fine.

When using GIMP and applying a skin through SkinStudio, GIMP takes all CPU usage (100%) for about 5 minutes. I believe it has something to do with the "scriptfu.exe" in GIMP.

When using WindowFX with any options other than "Shadows" turned on, titlebars don't get skinned.

When using Spybot S&D, blocking prompter gets skinned but can't see buttons to block or unblock.

Only issues I've seen may be with the themes themselves, or the way WB applies them.

Start menu flashes momentarily when clicked on the start button in themes like Azenis, MSN Messenger popup bubbles in some themes will flash so fast you can't read the information.
