Bash2cool: you can download a fully functional version of Dreamweaver
that will time out after a month or so. Enough time to get up and
running learning the basics with the many great tutorials out there.

I would advise against Frontpage since it doesn't generate code that
works well with other browsers than IE on windows =\

If you want to start with webpages you want to start making pages that
are easy to create and easy to change if needed.

Use XHTML for the structure of a page and use CSS for the looks and design.

That way you can't go wrong

Macromedia has many good tutorials on their site for beginners that want to
learn about XHTML and CSS and how to use Dreamweaver as the tool

http://macromedia.com/software/dreamweaver/?promoid=BINR

Click the Evaluation Resources tab for info videos.

Then go to http://macromedia.com/devnet/dreamweaver/
and scroll down to "CSS in Dreamweaver 8" for many
good tutorials

Good luck!

please.......is there any web hosting service that allows you to host your website for free but at the same time allows you to use your domain name for free?

So you have a paid domain name for this "project"?

I personally use Notepad for html, or Flash when i want something more 'complicated and groovie'...

sites i've designed:
*MAMEICONS (my personal site)
used: Notepad, notepad, and notepad.. Photoshop for arts, buttons here and there, and l'editeur javascript http://www.editeurjavascript.com/ for various javascript...

*Beatben's site (a DJ's site i did)
used: Notepad a few, Photoshop, 3ds MAx, Flash

*(my curriculum vitae, background)
used: Flash, 3dsmax, Illustrator, Photoshop

It's always a combination of all tools... and time and patience...

My very 1st advice would be: know what you want to do, in which direction you want to go, and mainly content of your website, subject, before starting anything...
Then think design, menus, navigation.. when all is clear, just start, you'll know what to do...

Regards, MAMu_ (MAMEICONS)

Bash2cool:

You must input the ip-address of a webserver where you
can put your web-page files. That means you need to find
a server for hosting your web-page if your school doesn't provide
one for the project.

There are a few companies offering free web-site hosting.
To get it free you have to put up with them showing ads
on your pages.

Here are a couple free hosting providers:

Tripod
http://www.tripod.lycos.com/

Geocities
http://geocities.yahoo.com/

Angelfire
http://www.angelfire.lycos.com/

If you want cheap web-site hosting without ads on your pages
one of the cheapest I have found is GoDaddy
(I have no experience with them though):
https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/hosting/shared.asp?se=%2B&ci=714
(apparently only $3.16/month if you sign up for 2 years)

If you want to register a domain name you can do that
in many places. godaddy.com, jumpdomain.com etc. etc.
Just look for the best price and make sure that the deal
is reasonable for the price.
