WindowBlinds 5

So when are Stardock going to release a public version of WindowBlinds 5 BETA? All of these new, glassy, themes are starting to make me jealous. And I don't have the kind of money where I can just throw away 50 bucks for that new BETA.

But you wouldn't be throwing away 50 bucks! You'd in fact be purchasing a whole suite of programs that not only includes WB5, but several others to customize your whole desktop. It's the best 50 bucks I ever spent

Yeah, but I already have all of the programs that come with the $50 Object Desktop. The ones that are good, anyway.

If you purchased them legally then you would have access to the version 5 beta already. If your not a current subscriber then you won't get it anyways when it is released.

JayStrux, offering betas for new releases to current Object Desktop customers is something we've had available for years. Only occasionally have we made beta releases available to anyone who wanted them.

That's a bonus on top of all the applications that are available for your $50, as well as the updates and new ones that come out during the course of your subscription. You also keep the latest versions that were available when your subscription ended.

Given your statement above doesn't reference actually purchasing any of the Object Desktop components, I would encourage you to skimp on a couple of pizzas and CD's to save for the ODNT subscription.

Or the $20 to purchase a copy of WindowBlinds 5, after the shareware build is released.

No, I didn't buy anything. I have the free versions of everything.

So even when the official WindowBlinds 5 is released, it will only be available to subscribers? That is a bunch of shit. Won't there be a freeware version?

The freeware as you call it, is actually shareware. That means after you have tried it out and like it, you are suppose to buy it. And haven't you been keeping up with the times on this site? This site is in the proccess of scaling back all the free stuff to non members. The real bunch of s... is people wanting everything for free. If you don't pay for your programs who do you think does? Do you think money grows on trees? If you like the products so much, buy them.

Please, pack up your free stuff and attitude and go someplace else if you can't contibute....other than raising the ire of those who do

OK let's go back. I agree with the concept of paying for the software. That's a given.
WHEN IS THE OFFICIAL BUILD GOING TO BE RELEASED?

ROAR GUYS. ROAR.

I have seriously never seen anyone get so mad when I said I wasn't going to pay for their stuff. Jeez. Chill the F out people. The money it takes to run this place is not my problem, sure, I like this place and it would suck if it went down, but that is out of my control. $50 isn't going to help a $300,000 problem. Damn.

If a man was about to be run over by a bus, do I try to pull him out of harms way or do I decide that I can't stop a bus therefore it is out of my control.

The subscription to help run this place isn't $50 it's closer to $20. If eveyone with your attitude bought one, the problem would be helped. Do the math. You may not be able to control a site, but you are in control of your action or lack thereof.

What an attitude! You have no right to complain about receiving a Beta of WB. You should at least spend some cash, then complain. Say it with me, spend cash, then complain. And watch your language, this is a family site you know.

Jaystrux, if you read this, e-mail me at Sleeping-dragon at comcast.net please.

Thanks

You see, I don't have the kind of money where I can spend $50 on Object Desktop when I already have it. The only thing that makes it worth considering to buy is WB 5, and that is hardly worth 50 bucks.

I am glad that those of you with like 20 computers in one room all with T3 connections can do it. So my thanks goes out to you. Keep this place running so the non-millionairs can use its stuff.

I would maybe pay 10 dollars for OD, but no more. I have better uses for my money like FF7: Advent Children and the PS3. I can hardly afford to spend all of that money on a few programs that I can easily get for free.

JayStrux-- I'm not sure what the problem is-- you can get WB5 without OD just as soon as it's released. You can't get the beta without OD, but WB5 is available as a stand-alone program as soon as there is a release version.

That's life-- isn't it time to move on now?

You can get WindowBlinds 5 (or equivalent functionality) for free?

Problem identified.
Solution, severely crippled versions or timed versions. I don't think it's in Stadock's best interest to release WB5 the way the current shareware is setup. Just my 2 cents.

I couldn't agree more, and have said as much several times on other threads. I am glad that a non member has spoke up and told the truth. Something myself and many others have already done. Why would you buy something you can get for free? Shareware versions of most programs usually expire in 30 day's. Most people are willing to take a limited version of any program for for free when there is no time limit.

Okay, so the millionaire with the 20 T3 connected puters, please step forward and own up to your fabulous fortune. It's your responsibility to keep this place afloat for freeloaders, so come on, cough up and throw your money around so that non-contibutors can freely benifit and ride on the coat tails of those who have.

Oh, and while you're at it, Mr millionaire, please reimburse me for my WC and OD subscriptions. You see, I'd rather have spent the money on a Playboy subscription (I only read the articles) and a 12 month supply of Coke. If not, then how about paying for their renewal? Yes, I could save the money for that by giving up drinking smoking and Friday nights out, but then I'd most likely want to spend those savings on PlayStation Games to compensate me for the sacrifices I made. Look, there's no point arguing and trying to explain how I could easily afford it, cos I'm a bludger and will always want it for free.

Sound familiar?
