Can you please e-mail your debug.err file to me at carielf@stardock.com? Please make sure to include a description of the problem so that I know what I'm looking for.

Same here,
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Program:...ogram files\stardock\totalgaming.net\galciv2\galciv2.exe
This Application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
Please contact "you all" (support staff) for more info.

Interestingly enough and just because I am a glutton for punishment,
(Really I am going back on the road for work next week) I upgraded the beta to .31[b] and d/l the multimedia files to my laptop this morning and viola. Loads up with no problems. Could it be the Nvidia card (desktop) vs Radeon 9000 (laptop) or the Windows Media Edition (Desktop) vs MS Windows XP Pro. (Laptop).
Just some thoughts to look at for the runtime error. (Both have DirextX9.0c)

Happening to me as well. It was occurring in version .28, then I upgraded to version .31 but the problem still persists. Any ideas on a resolution? SmartException doesn't even come up.

Smartexception came up for me last night so I emailed the report to Ms. Elf. per request. Same message on desktop, laptop seems to be working fine, I just had to reboot due to a bad mouse input though.

Had to reinstall the sucker and I left media pack out this time. But it happened after I closed the application the hard way cause it was hanging

Full uninstall / download / reinstall required to get the game running again.

Got home from work, followed advice from Ms. Elf, deleted saved ship files and re-attempted to load the game, worked like a dream. However, be advised that you may need to remove saved game files also. Recommend doing one at a time and sending in error reports to her, she is the brain of the machine (B.O.M.)
