(Moved from Object Desktop Section): IconX and DesktopX not working together properly
from
Stardock Forums
I had posted this in the "Object Desktop" Section by accident so I moved it here:
Ok, I only began having this problem after I updated to DX 3.1 and IX 1.1. The problem is this:
After recently reinstalling and updating my Object Desktop suite, I opened up Stardock, ran IX, modified the icons to my liking, and then checked the box to make it run at startup. I then restarted the computer to make sure that it worked properly. When the computer had finished booting up, IX had loaded perfectly. I the proceeded to open up Stardock one more time and load DX so I could load some objects. When I did, something strange happened, IX changed. The icons for DX and IX were both present but IX no longer had the fifth tab and the option to run it at startup was non-existent. At this point, I though nothing of it and figured that it would load with DX. So I then opened up DX, checked it to run at startup (side-note: its the client DX) and restarted the comp. When it finished booting up, neither the IX nor the DX icons were there but the "Loading DesktopX" splash screen had appeared. So I again opened up Stardock, attempted to load IX but the DX dialog box popped up. I then opened up the task manager and found that DesktopX.exe (along with my widgets) were loaded but IconX.exe was no where to be found. So I closed DesktopX.exe and loaded IX manually. It worked fine so I went to check the box to make it run at windows startup and when I did I found that it was unchecked (but i clicked it before?....) so I checked it, restarted, and now it works fine. But I decided to, again, go into msconfig to see if it showed up but it didn't and yet it still loads(huh?).
So, for now, I have IX (along with a "few" other programs) and if I want to use DX, I load it manually. It works ok, but I dont want to have to keep doing this whenever I want to run DX, it can get to be annoying. Is there anyone out there that can suggest something for me to do in order to fix this? Is anyone else having this issue? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
. Thankx.
