Gotta Love the Pita

Err, Peta people

From a letter to the editor of Asheville Citizen Times, Faye Arrington relates:

I am an animal lover. I am shocked at the speed of automobiles on the Blue Ridge Parkway and have reported same to the rangers.

On a recent Sunday I saw a little squirrel halfway across the road. A driver approached and could have more than given the squirrel time to get out of danger, but no. He hit the little squirrel. I jumped out hoping he [the squirrel] was only dazed. I picked him up, trying to breathe air into his nostrils--his heart was still beating--yet he died in my arms before I got home.

This indifference must end--they are God's creations. We are responsible for their welfare.

I can just see her doing mouth to mouth on a squirrel!  LOL!  If nothing else, Peta sure makes for good humor!

I wonder if she drives slow enough as to not smash any bugs that hit her windshield. They are God's creatures after all.

I try very hard not to kill small animals (geckos around here seem to have a death wish, and a couple of times that wish has been granted), and if I can safely pause or swerve to avoid a squirrel or mongoose or cat or whatever, I will.

But I WILL NOT give mouth to mouth to roadkill. I draw the line there.

!  You got to wonder!  If nothing else, they do provide comedic relief!

I hope they transfer you closer to home!  I am reading and hoping.

Back!  Back!  You are a thinking liberal!  We cannot have them!  We must shun them!

I am like you tex.  I have run over and hit enough animals in my driving days.  And each one is a wound upon my heart (Yea, I am a softee).  But I do draw the line at mouth to mouth.  What if the Squirrell had woken up and bit her?  Rabie shots!

Down here, Peta is big news.  And good for a lot of laughs too! (except when they are being mean and vindictive which is for another blog).

The thousands of children in Sudan thank her for her heroic like concern for the squirrels safety.

.. like Dr. Guy I pictured her giving mouth to mouth to the squirrel. Well one good thing came out of it. With his last few breaths he got to taste a NUT one last time.

Would that be the the victims of genocide, or the victims of slavery?

here too... it makes great sandwiches

mano, that is PITA, not PETA.  PETA is either the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals or People Eating Tasty Animals. Oh,wait a minute. They do make great sandwishes!

I've made the mistake of trying to "save" wildlife.  We were doing some landscaping and accidentally dug up a nest of rabbits.  They scattered, so I put them all back in their nest and made a shelter around them.  Now I have no bushes, but I have a lot of rabbits.  My dogs (another one of God's creatures ) like the rabbits.  They like them so much that they like to play with them.  I wrote an article about it awhile ago:  http://karmagirl.joeuser.com/index.asp?AID=72043
