I think that the article you have on pitbulls is ridiculous, Maybe you should be focusing on the owners of the pitbulls that mauled people and make sure that they don't own any other dogs and spend time in jail . You need to learn your facts!!! I have a pitbul named Rufus and he has been the best dog I have ever ever had!!!!!! He is the youngest dog I have and the best trained one!!!!!! He is not even neuter and hasn't shown one sign of aggresion since he was born (3 years ago). So get your facts straight...he has been nothing but my buddy. All those mauling stories are when an idiot gets a pitbull and beats it to make it mean!!!! He loves everyone!!!!! So I suggest you spend some time with a real pitbul, not the kind roaming the streets, then you will know what a good dog they are sushiK!

I do not believe that pitbulls should be banned. They are just dogs. Just because a bunch of idiots think that they are macho by fighting dogs and making them kill each other does not mean that all pitbulls are bad. Pitbulls can be just as loving as any other breed of dog. And I believe that we should not punish the breed we should punish the deed. Because I have 2 pitbulls of my own and they are both very loving and loyal.

I have a pitbull and he is not a bad dog. I have 2 boys a 4 yr. old and a 2 yr. old and they all get long fine. Just because other people aren't taking care of there dogs, blame eveybody. The only reason I got my dog was to prove all my family that it wasn't a bad dog. And now i love my dog and it's good that i got him. So your saying that the dog should be banned, it's like saying bann cars. You see that on the news everyday, somebody gets hurt or killed. Or like banning guns or banning beer because that's the leading cause of kids getting hurt or killed between the age of 15-25. But no your worried about a dog that you don't even know. Have you ever owned a pitbull? If not you should get one before you start to judge things. That's what my dad told me don't judge a book by it's cover. I have a pit and my brother does to, they play fight a lot with one another but have never shown aggression to anythign they werent suppose to. I personly think the whole pibull thing is more media hype than anytihing. befor the pitbull it was the rot befor the rot it was the doby. the reason i have learned police donte train these dogs is because they are known to be stubborn and hard to train it has nothing to do with vilent temperment. you may not have ment it that way but that is how it sounds.

As a pitbull owner, I think you should reconsider your statement. My dog is probably the most harmless animal I've ever seen- the only reason pitbulls have a bad a rap is because they've been used for dogfighting due to their naturally muscular bodies. You never hear how a dalmation or poodle attacks someone, but that happens all the time. Blame the owners for taking poor care of the animal, rather than push for a ban on the breed. Ask any vet that, and see what they say. Wait- chances are you don't even like dogs, which is why you want a ban.

And for YOUR information, almost all attacks that are stated to be by a pitbull, half the time can't even be proven because many people still don't even know what a pitbull is. AND also for YOUR information, if you check the National Humane Society Temperament testing, Pitbulls have the highest score of 98 % having the best family temperament. On the national statics the #1 bite is tied between and cocker spaniel and german shepherds, labs and goldens are 5th, 6th. Pitbulls are not even in the top 10. You CAN NOT take away someone's rights to own what they want just because there are STUPID, UNEDUCATED people in this world, like u, who don't know a damn thing about dogs. ANY dog can be aggressive and kill no matter what. I own 6 pits, which 3 of them are INTACT (which means not fixed, since u probably don't know that term) that live together in my house, sleep, play, and live with 3 females. They are also living with a cat, and a Cockatoo (parrot) that roams around the house with them. They are also around children, and are AFRAID of small dogs. I have been attacked by labs, and whenever I walk any of my dogs leashed, it always seems to be the labs, goldens, etc that run up on my dogs backside in an aggressive matter, and my dogs ignore them. I have been raising and training pits going on 9yrs, and I have NEVER had one returned to me for aggression, etc. Instead of focusing on something that you don't know about, only read about...try researching the good things this breed has done. They are used as search and rescue, drug dogs, police dogs, etc. Its not that breeds fault that they have been taught to do harm. This breed is a very loyal breed and protective of their master and family. You have to PUNISH the owner of the ones that have done worng and weed out the bad ones..Not all pits are bad. So read a book or something to gain more correct info on this wonderful, loving breed.

Actually, pitbulls were orignally bred for bullbaiting in Europe. They were brought into fighting when bullbaiting was banned. and their jaws DO NOT LOCK.

I have a 3 year old pit along with a 1 year old boxer which both stay with my parents while I'm away, my parents have a little black pug which chases both of them around the house and bites and leaves marks on them, exspecially the pit.People that want to ban pits prob have never been around them just heard about them on the news, most people that come into my parents house are always greeted by her jumpin and lickin them with the tail waggin like crazy, they have no idea she is even a pit, the bad thing is that they get nervous around her AFTER they find out, people are just to gulable to what they hear on the news, for just one example with the war which I can tell u first hand is much diff than the media portrays it to be.
