Speaking of the Dashboard widget elite, there are more than a few ideas that I would not mind seing come to fruition.

Firstly, one novel Dashboardite displays a list of users accessing ones iTunes shared library. I am not certain whether the funcionality was built into the Windows version of iTunes, but one has to assume that given the fact that the two function identically, this must be the case.

Also, a widget that shows the "This Just In" portion of WinCustomize.com would be most useful. Again, I am not sure if there exists an XML feed of the list but (Cough cough, Jafo, cough) such functionality would be appreciated.

A widget that can unload all resource consuming programs like windowblinds cursor-xp and such and also reload them. All with a single clck. for when you just need all your system resources.

Hmmm
Well, me personally. I'd like to see an object that incorporates the same type of script used on Tiggz' K-Dock but with a simple shortcut and without the docking script. I'd love to incorporate the hold down and change your shortcut to a url/program but for the life of me I can't figure out the scripting for it. I make alot of themes but don't release them because they don't have functionality for others only me but with a shortcut setup this way it makes it so the theme's can be used by anyone and allows them to change it to their preferences. Just an idea that may allow more releases out to the public.

A 'logoff' button widget.
I saw a 'shutdown' widget but cant find it anymore, but I kinda need a logoff one
And I'm to noobish at desktopX to make it myself

*edit* nvm, the search function is so handy (stupid me )

I'd really like a widgit that keeps track of aim messages. The way my desktop is set up, I don't have any notifaction when I get a message (when it would normally flash in the task bar that's not there anymore). I would like a widgit that lights up or something when someone sends me a message (and the window is minimmized)

I had posted this a while ago. I think if someone could figure out how to make a speech recognition widget, it would be both useful and impressive.

Frogboy,
There is one. But it's for Konfabulator. See here... Link

I have tried it and it seems to good very nicely. It is also compatible for the newly released Konfabulator 2.0.

As an addicted Xbox Live gamer, I'd really like to have a widget that
shows a list of your friends on Xbox Live.
Like in the MSN Messenger xbox tab, it lists your friends (and even
what they're playing if I'm not mistaking).

Maybe this could be a usefull widget for a lot of (hardcore) gamers
And as I'm currently using a couple of 'silica' widgets (with black colours
[everything is customised to black and grey shades]), this kind of theme
would be appreciated

I would like a DJ player widget that can play 2 files at the same time and display their tags seperately. Also 2 separate playlists would be a must. Optimal : Support for 2 different soundcards.

some sort of msn widget plug-in would be nice!!

This is hard. But it's not a limitation due to DX, it's because the MSN Messenger API is closed and not availible to external resources. Though there a way that requires that Windows Messenger is installed. And you can create your own COM, ActiveX that uses the Messenger protocol.

I know this is boring but there is a lot of diamond's in the rough for DesktopX that could be polished up.

For example, Martin's drive light widget is very nice but it's kind of ugly:

Would be nice if there were more good graphics designers out there who could look at this stuff and make it..well easier on the eyes.

What about a RAM meter widget that could free up ram when double clicked, like FreeRAM XP.

I'm looking for widgets, like hardware "health" in sysmeter, i.g. temperatures, fan speeds. there should be some triggers to do something, i.g. cpu temperature to high -> play sound, change wallpaper, flash a widget with a red lamp, ...

Maybe I just haven't seen it and since I know nothing about scripts, I haven't tried to make one...but..I would like to see an Album Art Widget that is NOT tied to Itunes. (I don't use Itunes) Something for Winamp and Mediaplayer. So far, I have only found one Winamp skin that even has that feature. Something simple, like the Silica Picture frame, with an obtrusive border.

There 3 that I know of. https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=561&LibID=34 , https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=436&LibID=34 and https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=391&LibID=34 although the last one doesn't get the covers from the insternet. I'd recommend the 2nd link since mine is incomplete.

displays an LED equalizer

Umm... what exactly is an LED Equaliser?

Do you mean an LED audio spectrum analyser?
