Well..apparently comments made upon a certain artists WB has caused rash decisions to be made, it is unfortunate.

I can see his point, the accusations were serious from an artistic point of view, I can see the "Accusors" point of view as well, tho I wonder, could this have been handled through Email, clearing up what I believe is simple coincidence? instead of publically accusing someone of something as serious as plagerism? ::sighs::

I do not know what the answers are, and I am not here to argue anybodies point..I simply would like to say it is too bad that these events have led to the loss of someone that is clearly as talented as the artisit is that has been accused and has left WC..
I hope it isnt perhaps to late for something to be worked out, but I am sure it is, both sides of the accusations are pretty steadfast in their actions and convictions..who really suffers? That would be the people now deprived of enjoying the work in question that is now no longer available to them..WC doesnt suffer..in Jafo's words.."It is your loss" and perhaps thats true..somewhat..but not completely..WC has lost something as well..but it is those that would have enjoyed the skin for what it is that have truly lost..over what?..a difference of opinion? Serious accusations made before finding out the exact truth?..

I dont know guys, I just think there must be a better way to handle incidents like this in the future..
And to the artist is question..you will be missed..
To the artists that felt plagerized.. I do still enjoy your works as well, if they were copied..that would not change.

Double Zero .... the WB in question was approved by me for public display/download...which means that the Wincustomize.com Admins/moderators were/are happy with the WB NOT being an issue of theft or 'rip'.

However...

In an ideal world the uploader would have said...."It all started with the inspiration of another work....and by the time I'd finished with it it was 101% new and original...thanks goes to 'X' for the inspiration."

Just seemed like the 'nice' thing to do.

However the world is rarely 'ideal'.

The ultimate decision of what is or is not accepted on Wincustomize.com lies with its moderators.

They are 'judge of fact'...and the work was approved.

The author of the original 'inspiration' was mildly disappointed, nothing more, and note he has the access level to remove it himself yet did not.

If/when someone decides he 'must' move on it is so often due to misunderstanding rather than any actual 'wrong' on any part.

Life goes on, regardless...

DoubleZero, there are obvious different points of view in regards to this issue, but regardless of personal opinions it all comes down to the fact that the work submitted was extremely close to copyrights violation. I compared a couple of images from both skins and they were identical right down to the pixel.
As artists/authors we are all inspired by other artist's work but we need to maintain a sense of ethic upon the creation of our own work based on others.
The use of material from another author's work must be with complete permission from such author just the way credit must be given to an author when the idea of your work comes close to the original.
It is a shame that the author has decided to pack and leave but that was the choice he made. A more professional approach would have been to re-work the skin and update it as I’m sure admins notified the author of the issue.
Hopefully the author would reconsider and return to WC since I don’t think anyone 'kicked' him out.

::nods:: I understand Jafo, and I commented on the page myself of the moderation being accepted. It is the accusations themselves that have caused the decision to be made to part from WC..the accusations are what I believe were un-necessary until perhaps further facts could be obtained..privately and in a less "public" display.
The accusations are serious, especially from the viewpoint of an artist, almost "Cardinal" is it really all that surprising "X" decided to do what he has done in the face of those types of accusations?

Thats great that the original author did not remove it..and perhaps he may have been open to actually listen to the other side of the story..but as accusations go..it never got to that point..

All I can really say is.."Ah well"
And forget about it, because you are correct..life goes on and so do we all,
I just felt that it was important enough to at least say something about.

I really didn't think I was that important to start a thread about! and yes Jaffo was very correct. I did jump the gun, and feel horrible about it. from now on I will take take very close care over what I say and do, and moreover I'm working on a new skin that hopefully will raise the bar abit. I'm no skinner yet, but someday I hope to be up there with the greats like Pixtudio's Treetog, and Jaffo. Such kind words will not go unheard by me from my fellow skinners. The new skin will be called Revalation Machine. It's title deals with me branching out from inspiration, and plunging headlong into the nightmares under our beds! Thank you for keeping me annonymous, but I deserved what I got, and won't be affraid to take it like a man. The only thing that still bugs me is HOW DO I MAKE A SIX STATE TITLEBAR BUTTON!!! I've tried and tried, and still can't figure out how to add the other three states.
Ayways, the WC community is VERY important to me, and I loves ya all. I'm stayin' on to see just how good I can get. It is my duty and obligation to drop jaws, and make people say the same thing I say about Treetog's skins....HOW THE F DOES HE DO THAT!!!

In SKS... Left Tree; Window Border > Titlebar Buttons -Free form.
Right Tree; Titlebar Button -Type > "Active AND inactive- 6 buttons in image"

Well, news flash..::laughs:: You are..especialy to at least one mans son that you have made very happy with your skin, that signifies "Importance" ::nods::

WoM..get over it...I dont think we need more than a necessary few parading through here with the "Holier than thou" attitude. Some have a rite and a resposibility to have that attitude and some would simply do well to allow those that should, to point out the obvious..as is the case.

I simply opened a topic for discussion trying to show my support for the "Artist" that was pretty angry, angry enough to leave WC.I had no other way to talk to him, so this was a perfect spot to begin. It seems that my whole point has been missed however.. but thats ok because everything worked out..this time..the kids are happy again..LoL..they have Godzilla..

I am not afraid to admit I misunderstood something that was vague in nature..when being "Vague" it is sometimes difficult to understand "who" "what" was meant for..
I cannot blame the others for their reactions though, a creation is something to be proud of and defended. I just say that perhaps there was a better way to get all the facts before publically ridiculing an artists work that was approved through moderation to begin with, with accusations that are as serious as those being pointed..

Nightwing did the right thing, explained himself and gave credit to those that inspired him..that speaks for itself, some would have been closed to that alternative.
A cool WB lives on and everyone turns out to be one big happy family again..::laughs::

I may not be too "bright" as it were,
but I am very satisfied with the turn of events..
And besides, I did not yet have my coffee when I answered..dangerous time..LoL
