Color bleeding?

I don't really know what to call it but it's when you have an object, let's say it's red and kind of a dark red, and you go to type small type on the object( with white letters) and it looks as though the red (from the object) kind of bleeds through a little on the white lettering. I found if you make the type big it seems allright but if you want it real small it just don't look good.. Any suggestions other than just keep the writing big..?

The text is probably set for anti-aliasing. You can turn that off but the text (depending on the font) may look worse.
Try a different tint of white, perhaps with a red hue. It mind blend better.

Here are some small fonts, they might look better at small sizes. http://www.dsg4.com/04/extra/bitmap/index.html
