What was your first PC

What did you start your computing life with??

Allright, I think I'll start one of these get to know your community threads.
What was the first PC you owned or worked on? 286, 386, Pentium I, II, III etc.
Mine was a Radio Shack TRS80 Model 4 (basic language computer) my company bought for me to do survey closures, roadway design applications and some basic drainage programs. I believe it was 1983 or late 82.
There been a whole lot of others since. Currently I use a Pentium IV Laptop. What a ride it's been.

My very first computer was a Radio Shack Coco (Color Computer), but that hardly counts since I was about 16 or 17 and never really used it a lot other than for playing. My first real computer that I used daily was a Macintosh Classic. Kept it for about 7 years before I bought a 486 in 1994 or so.

My first was a Commodore Vic20 with a blazing fast 300 baud modem (think that this was about 1982?).

Texas Instruments TI-99/4A
You could plug game cartridges into it, program in Basic (had to save on cassette tape), and use your TV for a monitor.

I have my IIc up and running in my lab. It's amazing to me how my kids like to play the simpler games on it.

My first computer was an Apple II (with the Radio Shack cassette deck as the storage medium).

The first computer I used was a Apple IIe.
The first I owned was a AMD powered 386 I believe.

I now run a AMD Athlon 2000+ setup. I've had plenty of Intel setups but from now on it's AMD.

First computer: Pc XT. It was adready 10 years old or so and it was free.

I built a 486 33 mhz SX computer a few years later. 4 mb RAM was almost $90 and it was a amazing deal then.

My first IBM clone was an XT the display model at Sears which I talked the sales lady down to $114.00 !

But I started on Atari computers and programmed them in machine language.

I also built some IBM pc's, two 286's from scratch, starting with motherboards and cases. The last one I built had an ABIT motherboard.

Mine was a 386 Tandy. I think back then it was paying AOL $12.00 to be online for an hour. I had the Tandy without a phone jack the phone jacks came out with the 486 models. Lol,tis sickening when you think about how much money a person would put out for a program back then that was on a diskette or the paper thin floppies. The only big programs I could afford for it was Crayola Crayons Art Studio and Leisure Suit Larry.

PS-- "Thanks for the memories you've given me"

First Computer was an Apple IIe Baby! My Aunt gave it to me after she had it for a few years. But I did own a Commodore 64 before it, but that didn't do much compared to the Apple IIe.

My First REAL Computer that I got all by myself was a 486 SX-33 w/ 4MB RAM and a 340MB HD & a 1 MB VLB Video Card! It came with a Sound Card and CD-ROM! That was the best PC ever! So many fond memories.

My Latest PC is My P4-2.6GHz (OC to 2.7GHz @832FSB)

My first one is nothing compared to yours. I waited to get a reeeeeeeeeeeally good one, that was (back then) a Gateway 4DX2-66V. Cost me $2,000+!!! 'Twas 66MHz (w/ turbo on) and 8 mb ram, 1mb video, sound blaster,Win 3.11, 444mb hd. I thought it was blazing then! Now I have a Gateway Performance 500 with a 500MHz PIII, 384 MB RAM, 256 MB GeForce FX 5200, SoundBlaster Live! Value, and DVD/CD burner.

Radio Shack Color Computer. I installed a pilot light, a new keypad, and piggybacked a memory kit to expand from 16 to 32 K. yep, that's K.
