how to distribute themes to those who dont have WB?

I am new to this put looks like a lot of fun!
i used to program C and Basic. Also, build PCs and work in photoshop a lot
Stumbled on this site via serach engine and bought right in.

i saw this on ebay:

what do you think this guyis using to be able to distribute his product to people who dont have WB or similar?

My GUI does not run on top of your default Windows XP GUI. It actually replaces your current Microsoft Windows XP default GUI,

He is using a system file hack to allow unsigned MSStyles to be applied. Not nearly as versatile as WindowBlinds, and actually violates the EULA.

so, whats the way to do it legally?
how would i make GUI to be distributed to other PCs that dont have WB, etc etc?

You would have to create a program similar to WindowBlinds, making sure you didn't 'copy' WindowBlinds.  A daunting task I'd say. WindowBlinds has been in development for years.

meaning there is no "runtime" version of any of the Stardock programs?

There is a way, as certain corporate skins have been distributed with a lite version of Windowblinds packaged with it. But it wass for big projects, and Stardock programers were involved in packaging it.

Powerdesk Pro 6 is one proggy which has a self-contained Windowblinds skin-applicator.

I'd expect the commercial cost of such would preclude private usage....[though just guessing there]....

also if you happen to find a way to distribute themes.. then you must get permission from each author who's skins that would be included. it is illegal to distribute others works without their express authorization...if you make your own, then you can freely distribute them.

also ... you could buy subscriptions to W.B. and give them out as gift's.. x mas/ birthdays Etc...
and believe me of all the christmas presents i bought my self over the years .. W.B. is one of the few that keep on giving ,.WC. is the other

You could also just use WB freely, although minus some features that really are worth paying to get. But as mentioned the program must be on the PC and isn't packagable on a skin by skin type basis.

I'd say the guy is brilliant! Seriously, it looks like He's hacking the MSStyles. The only other GUI enhancer I can think of, would be EFX, by toasty, mian and the Gang from SkinZ.org. Now the only MAJOR Concern I would have is that in all of the 300+ Auctions this guys has sold, that someones, SkinZ are possibly being ripped. The smart thing to do is to contact the guy and find out directly, if He's legit then he would cooperate more than likely, if He doesn't then it's "Peanut Butter n' Jelly Time, with a Baseball Bat!!!"
