WindowBlinds, button in the display|apparance, sometime remain, after uninstall.

Hi,

I have found that recently, with WindowBLinds (after uninstall) in Stardock Central.

WindowBlinds, button in the "Windows XP|ControlPanel|Display|Apperance, section, sometime remain, after uninstall of WindowBlinds program.

It do that "nearly all time", when i uninstall WindowBlinds, from stardock central.

I'm curious to know why you un-install WindowBlinds so often...

I must say, I'm suspicious. Why would you add that?

Hello Sylvian, there is a new WB update today that seems to address those issues.  Perhaps you can reinstall wb with this latest version and then uninstall.  It is a beta build and you have to have OD configured to show beta and alpha builds in order to see the very latest.

I imagine people might get asked quite often what build of product one is using so therefore try to provide as much advance information as possible.  I do that myself often.

Hi,

Version of WindowBlinds = 4.38b Alpha, ...
Windows XP Pro. En. SP2 [RC2. Build 2149], ...

After some testing, ...

= When i uninstall WindowBlinds, it not always clear the section in windowsxp, "not in stardock central", in "the controlpanel|apparence|display section".

I have tested = If i uninstall and reboot and check if the windowblinds button is there, but that the button, is nearly allways there, ...

-

If i uninstall, reinstall and uninstall, ... without quit stardock central, ... and after, reboot, ... it clear the windowblinds button, ...

-
It seem that it's a bug, ... ( Because if i press that button = "the windowblinds, button in the apparence section", and windowblinds is not installed, it do nothing, ... )
-

I hope is enough clear, ...

By chance, when you say 'un-install'...do you mean 'un-load'?

The version WB I got today was 4.38b[a].002

Hi,

The Version i use currently = 4.38b[a].002

For the word "uninstall" in a previous post that i use = "The uninstall word, that i use, is the button in stardock central software, on the windowblinds line." = "it's not the close option, in the windowblinds software, and it's not unload option, in the windowblinds software".

I'm trying real hard with this one, but somehow I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone..

So whenever you uninstall the program, no matter what you do, in the system display properties, the windowblinds information is still there under the appearance tab?

yrag say = By chance, when you say 'un-install'...do you mean 'un-load'?

Respond = For the word "un-install" in a previous post that i use = "The un-install word, that i use, is the "uninstall option, for windowblinds" in stardock central software. = It's not the close option, in the windowblinds software, and it's not unload option, in the windowblinds software".

goodmorphing say = So whenever you uninstall the program, no matter what you do, in the system display properties, the windowblinds information is still there under the appearance tab?

Respond = Nearly appear all times when i un-install, the only mean for the moment, to not have the button displayed, in the appearance tab, is to go in stardock central, and after un-install, remain in stardock central, and after, re-install, and still remain in stardock central, and after un-install, after that, reboot, and go to the appearance tab, it will nearly all time, "not show", the windowblind section in appearance.

( If you only, go to stardock central, and un-install windowblinds, and after reboot, ... = nearly all the time, "it show", the windowblinds section, in appearance section.)

( I hope it's enough clear those responds? )
I hope all you got it this time, ...

I think so....are you trying to un-install WindowBlinds completely from your system?

Maybe I understand... If you  uninstall the information is still there.  So you have to go into SC to reinstall it, then uninstall it again and having done that you have to leave SC open while you reboot and only then the WB information is gone?

Respond = I dont try to keep open StardockCentral, before i reboot.

I just, after the un-install and the re-install, and the un-install, "of windowblinds" = i quit stardockcentral, and reboot.

Ah... that does sound like a bug.  This isn't the Stardock support site but I know the developers do read the forum.  You might want to send in a bug report to support:  mailto:support@stardock.com

sorry... I'm having a time learning how to make links work now.

...did you understand what he meant, Diane?

I thought he is pointing out a bug.  It seems that sometimes when you uninstall wb, it doesn't uninstall cleanly so you have to reinstall and uninstall through SC.  It may seem like a small thing to some people, but if you wanted to return your computer to the original state, say if you wanted to sell it or something, it might be more important not to have bits and pieces of programs sticking around.

I could be all wrong though.

Go Yrag, this is obviously an examination question for you. Marks out of 100.

I was going to suggest that He/She write it in French and wait for someone to translate it or we'll never figure this out.
