Nvidia transparent effects lost after windowblinds installed

My Nvidia 5200 card has a great efects setting which makes dragged windows transparent until you them. I really like this feature as it halps me place windows on my Delphi 8 developer machine. I installed windowblinds, actually I bought the $49.95 package with Iconpackager etc and now my transparent dargging has gone. I have ticked and unticked the setting in Nvidia's driver and the only thing it does it make the window transparent for a millisecond or so after I it, after that it is solid while I drag it.

Any ideas?.

Use WindowFX. It came with OD and is capable of giving you varying degrees of transparency, along with many other amazing features.

Same thing happens when I try to use the transparency effect when I check that option on my nVidia card. Just looks like you'll have to go without it or use windows fx.

Actually, I am beginning to suspect that there is a real conflict with some Nvidia cards/drivers and WindowBlinds relative to transparency and WindowsFX does not seem to solve the problem, at least for me. I have the same problem with this latest build as smbunn, and for some reason the transparency on my desktop icons has crapped out again, too. I've given up reporting on it on the Stardock newsgroups as noone ever responds except to say, "Use WindowsFX," which does not, in fact, fix the problem.

The really annoying thing is that it's a problem that comes and goes with various WB updates, so I just keep archiving and rolling back to a build that works. For what it's worth, smbunn, build 4.29f(rc) is the most recent build that didn't cause problems with transparency for me.

Thanks shameless designs, my older version of windowblinds worked perfectly, its only when I paid up that it downloaded the latest version and things went wrong after that. How do I roll back when my previous version was the free trial?

That's a very good question, smbunn, and I wish I had a good answer for you. My best suggestions would be to e-mail Stardock support or Stardock sales and ask them for help. Other than that, maybe yrag or someone else who has some contacts at Stardock might be able to help you. I wish I could offer something more concrete, but that is all I have at the moment.

One suggestion for future reference, if you plan to use the beta versions of the software as they become available, just make sure that you have your SDC set up to archive previous versions before updating. That way if you do have a problem occasionally, you'll be able to roll back to an earlier build. In almost 8 months of using the beta updates, I've only had to roll back a few times, mostly due to something minor yet annoying to me personally. The beta program at Stardock is quite good and I would not be afraid to use it at all if you feel reasonably comfortable with installing, uninstalling and occasionally tweaking your software and operating system settings.

In any case, good luck, and welcome to the wonderful world of WindowBlinds and WinCustomize.
