There are lots of $1,000,000+ homes in Santa Barbara, and particularly in Montecito, which is in the southern end of Santa Barbara, and where a lot of celebrities live. Oprah Winfrey is possibly the best-known resident of Montecito.

And I'm not sure if the $600,000 figure was right, I keep thinking it may actually be $800,000, I'm just too darn lazy to do any research . And I couldn't begin to tell ya about square footage, but I would imagine it's more than 1300 square feet. 1300 square feet sounds just a wee bit cramped for the prices you quoted, though, Design Caddy, that's for sure! So what part of Pennsylvania do you live in?

In tennessee a house that costs 200,000 will normally have around 3000 sqft.

much cheaper to live in the south.

Jinn Fizz, I know its expensive in Calif.. My mom and brother still live in N. Calif.(somewhat cheaper there). I wouldn't and couldn't afford to move back but I do have fond memories of my time there. S.B. is nestled between the mountains and ocean.

DesignCaddy, no bigger and sometimes a little smaller.

Those houses built in the 60's were only 11-1300 sf. My dad and uncle built a tone of them.

For those members from Alberta Canada ... I hail up North in Edmonton ....

For a living, I am a part time father of a 9 year old boy, and I work as a project manager for a national marketing company. Nothing Glorious, but it pays the bills, and most of the time its an enjoyable job.

treetog a professional skinner? I never saw that one coming

For me, nothing as glamorous as that, I'm an EE by education, and a software developer/analyst (unix / windows) by trade. I get to like what I do, though, and that's cool

jinn, center/old city philadelphia.. more spacifically, the 1300 block of juniper from south street to spruce street.. some very old homes being bought up and redone to match the 1200 block..very nice slew of town houses.
the one across the street from me was just bought for 450,000. i'm pretty sure i have the footage right.. it IS a little small but, thats the price for history..
