A Quick Survey...

I've noticed that the downloads on the wallpapers seem (in my opinion) to be abit low lately. So I was wondering why....

Is it because of the download limit that some members have?

Is it because ppl simply don't like what's being put on it?

Maybe you do your own walls and don't need to bother with other ppl's work?

Or finally that you've all found the one perfect wall for you so why download stuff you just don't need to use?

Me, personally... well I share a pc with DarkMist, if i'm lucky to get on the thing then I sure as hell ain't gonna surprise the guy by putting on a different wallpaper while he's looking the other way

i don´t know. usually don´t even look at the wallpaper section. i did now and remembered why: lots of Terragen and lots of cheap 3d. maybe more and more people and more people get tired of such stuff, but i doubt that. maybe a leading computer magazine has published the the right-click "save image as"-thing in their tips and tricks section.

I personally, download very few walls. Most Terrigan, Vue and Bryce works I don't like. The other paint programs that have all that windows crap (the flag and XP stuff) I don't like. Also those that have all that writing on it I don't like either. But thats me.

I just haven't seen anything that demands I place it on my hard drive lately. I usually don't use photo walls, and there are tons of those all of the sudden.and the artistic walls have declined recently in quality, guess everyone's busy with other projects and can't devote the time they once did to walls.

I just recently submitted a wall that is IMO clean but simple to go with my WindowBlind, not even 30 minutes later it was already rejected...I don't know, maybe the Wall section is for only what the Mod's like.

What don't make sense is the Logon I just recently submitted, made it through....It has the same graphics as my Wallpaper...hmmmm

....but to answer your question, Myself like probably most other people are looking elsewhere for more of a variety of walls, other than the opinion of MODS here.

one other thought, walls might not show a high dl total because many people will just save the preview jpg, it's why some artists have begun to make their preview jpg smaller in size than full screen.

MeyendTripp: that´s because longons are not moderated for quality.

was it the same as in your screenshot here https://www.wincustomize.com/window.asp?Cmd=COMMENTS&Lib=33&SkinID=35 ?

(personal opinion warning) i understand that as a wallpaper it did not make it through moderation. i mean, what is that? a weave filter (Eye Candy plugins and bevels can be spotted from miles) http://www.alienskin.com/ec4k/filters/weave.html with two white stripes? my four year old nice can do that (hey, she really can), so ...

Probably because it's crap.

With the exception of a few.

Actually it's not the one in the pic...I said it was simple, but it goes with the Racer WindowBlind. Here is an example https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=26&SkinID=2395

moshi, I'm curious on how you are able to pull Olympics up through WinCustomize...When I try, it shows the following error (The GUI Olympics 2004 Library is temporarily closed while we perform some maintenence.)

Last wall I grabbed I actually 'took' from a screenshot....removing icons,etc.

It's fortunate that the wall was the uploader's, otherwise its ease of 'taking' would warrant its removal...

I'm usually downloading a few walls quite regularly, but few of those added in the last few weeks have caught my attention - I just went through the first 4 pages again to see if I'd missed any while I've been busy working on skins...besides those from vlad (softart) who's stuff I always like, nothing really fired my interest.

MeyendTripp: clicked on your profile and then "[Click to View Author's Skins]". not sure how the libraries are linked together.

For our family (the guys) we are not much into flowers and flower pots, farm land or other scenery types, wild "mixed" colors going this way and that way, or those with names (e.g., Resolute) printed on them that we have never heard of. We enjoy simple things (e.g., Doublet, The Limit FM, My System, A Window In Time, abstraktum) and colors with objects (e.g., The Blade, Ojo Azul, Dark Storm)and simple 3Ds. Not too may simple 3D objects like {Flame}{Becakiloc}(Unit T}(IAFF}. A clean (for lack of another word) Wallpaper gives easy viewing of some very nice icons, a weather and/or calendar DesktopX Objects. We see way too much Wallpaper that is more like "paintings" for a wall in the house. Not many people want a "painting" or "picture" on their computer screen is my guess...they want to be able to view somewhere their downloaded icons, their DesktopX Objects, and know where their cursor is. As for the wild "mixed" colors...well...that probably looks cool if you've had a few drinks or otherwise.

That's me too!

and further more to me, allot of the walls are not my taste as of late. Some might be good, but not my style. I like walls with detail... by that I mean it has been really worked over in composition, color, contrast and stuff like that. It could be a minimalistic wall and still be downloadable, but it has to be thought out and likable.

But that is just me.
