Hello,

Thank you for your answer. I add the key in the registry, but it doesn't work.

The item "Lock fences" doesn't appear in the "display" panel of the desktop.

I had the same problem on a Win 10 PC, but I fixed it by installing, and instatting Fences again.

On my Win 11 PC, the uninstalling procces givens an error. Note : Fences 4 an 5 are declared as installed.

More Advices to resolve ?

Thanking by advance.

Hello,

Hello,

I switched my system to English, and you can see above the menu I used. It's the same as the one you spoke about.

You can see that the item "lock fences" is not there.

I think it might be a Fences installation problem, but I checked, and the installed version is indeed the latest.

I will try to uninstall and install Fences Again.

See and tell you the result soon, because I need to restart my PC.

Please try to click on the "Show more option" it should open up a new menu with more option in it.

Hello,

I uninstalled and reinstalled Fences, but it's already the same : "lock fences" not displayed in view function on desktop.

Any more idea ?

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Hello,

I downloaded Fences directly from the Stardock fences site, and it is different from the one provided when I purchased Fences! I don't know if I have the right file!

Then I followed the instructions: save layout, purge, reboot, install, reboot.

I was afraid I had lost the layout of the fences on my desktop, but by restoring a layout backup I was able to find my fences again.

The situation is the same : no "Unlock Fences" item displayed.

Is it possible to contact a Stardock support service directly ?

I will forward your issue to support once you try these simple test.

  1. Please check by opening your registry and check if the registry is actually added. Some security software might block registry entry.

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Fences\Settings]
    "LegacyLockFencesAvailable"=dword:00000001

  2. If you have Windows Pro version, please try install Fences in Windows Sandbox, and apply the reg entry as I mentioned above while in there. https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#sandbox

Hello,

On my PC the registry [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Fences\Settings]

"LegacyLockFencesAvailable" is OK.

I tried to install Fences in Sand Box, and updatet the registry as indicated. The result is the same as on my PC : the "lock fences" option doesn't appear on the view function on desktop.

Could the downloaded Fences setup program not be the good one?

  Fences5-sd-setup.exe 22089 Ko

Is it possible to join a local file on this forum or to send it to you ?

That look like the correct one. Here is what I get.

I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

To add the registry enty, did you use the contents of the zip file here to do so?

https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1621360668/Show+%22Lock+Fences%22+in+Fences+5

If not, please do, then reboot.

Hello,

Thank you for your help.

Yes, I did use the file to add the registry entry.

To be sure, I deleted the entry, I created it again using the file, I rebooted, but the situation is still the same.

Now it is as following :

Hello,

Thanks, it works by going through "More Options", although this is not the mode of operation in the old Fences 4 version.

Thanks again to you Basj and Sdroan, I really appreciated your responsiveness, for a problem that was not major.

Best Regards.

Guy
