Cannot change accent color under programs

Before a recent update, the color of the line below the buttons was determined by Start Menu -> Configure Menu -> Customize Menu Visual appearance -> Pick Color (with 'use auto color' turned off), now the line below the buttons seems to inherit the color of that taskbar set in Taskbar -> Taskbar blur, transparency, (etc) -> Color (with 'auto color for taskbar' off).

The way the color was set before was not ideal, but I was able to set the color of the line separately from the taskbar at least. Now there is no way to set the line and the taskbar colors separate. If i set the system accent color and use 'auto color for taskbar' then I cannot control the taskbar color.

i.e. if i set the taskbar to dark grey, the line is a lighter grey. I used to be able to set the taskbar to dark grey and whatever the start menu visual appearance color was, that would be the color of the line under the buttons.

Just add a separate control for this please!

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system.

  1. Windows 10 or 11? Also need it full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe.
  2. Start11 full version number.

Thank you,
Basj,

In my experience, if you are using the "Enhanced taskbar" and want the taskbar button indicator to be the Windows Accent color, you have to set "Use automatic color for the taskbar" to on. What you can then do, is "Apply a custom texture to the taskbar" and then use "Pick color" and "Adjust texture transparency" to set the taskbar color and transparency. Now use "Adjust taskbar transparency" to fine tune the overall transparency.

This is very close to what I'm looking for, however you are forced to change the windows system accent color this way, and since I wanted to use a dark color, windows controls become very dark as well. also, it's possible that if I use the method you described, stardock could make another change that breaks that as well.

There should be a separate control within Start11 to change the taskbar accent color (the line under the programs).

I agree completely. I have brought this up before, but so far, nothing.
