Start 11 not working for all user accounts

I've just installed Start11 in a new Win 11 PC.  Start 11 seems to work for the Admin User I have set up but not for the "ordinary" user I have also set up.   For the "ordinary" user I get the standard Win 11 menu rather than the Win 7 menu I have specified in Start11.  I have looked at Start10Tweak and that does have the All Users option set  and I (as the Admin User) unset it  and reset it, but no change!

Any ideas about what I need to do to get this working, please?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Have you tried opening Start11 configuration Windows in that other account and change the Start11 start menu style to any other style? For example, choose Windows 7 style and see if that make your start menu style change to Win 7 style. If that work. Than, you just need to change the Start11 configuration for that account to which ever style you wish.

Thank you.

As I explained in my previous post, the problem is that when I try to change the style for my non-Admin account the style is not updated.  I can change the Start button though!  Could you refer this issue to the Technical Support team please?

Many thanks

Need to do some steps first, which most probably will be also be ask by Support for you to do first.

Please try, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately (important), download latest version available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products  . Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

As suggested, I have uninstalled Start11 (Version 2), rebooted, and then installed Start11 - Version 2.5 which became available in the last couple of days.   I then re-booted.   Nothong has changed - Start 11 works fine in the Admin Account, but, as before, I cannot change the style in the non-Admin account.

Any ideas about what I need to do to get this working, please?

Thank you

Do you have any other application or modification done on your secondary that change how your Start panel/taskbar/Explorer work, such as StartAllBack, Explorer patcher etc?

Did you check to see how the Start11 Control settings are set for this user?

In reply to your post of 16 Jan 24, I have not installed any application or made any modification that change how the Start panel/taskbar/Explorer work.  As mentioned this was a new PC with a clean Windows 11 installation.   I would welcome some suggestions as to why this is happening and as it seems to be problem for a number of users, it is likely that there will be an update to address the problem?

If you run task manager do you have start11srv and start11_64 running?

This will be on the details tab.

I can confirm that there are two instances of Start11_64.exe is running both with the username of the "ordinary" user (i.e. the non-admin user) and that Start11Srv.exe is running with no username shown against it.

StartMenuExperienceHost.exe is also running with the username of the "ordinary" user shown against it, but I think this is a Windows service and unrelated to Start11.

Hi Basj,

Do you have any idea what the problem is that prevents Start 11 running properly for non-Admin accounts and suggestions for how I can mitigate the problem, please?

Many thanks

I am not sure why, but would like to suggest to make sure everything get installed properly. Basj,

I have uninstalled and rebooted and then reinstalled Start 11 (V 2.50) as suggested before your latest post (on 7 Feb 25 no. #14) - see my post on 16 Jan 25 (# 4).  Nevertheless I have again uninstalled Start 11 and rebooted and then installed the latest version (now V2.51) as you have suggested.

It makes no difference - the style in the non-Admin account cannot be changed.

How do I get some technical support?   I can't see how one can report a fault on the Startdock site.  Or perhaps I have wasted too much time on this and I need to have a refund as the product does not function correctly.

I would be grateful if you would escalate this issue so it gets some technical support.

Regards

As a test, if you temporarily change the user in question to an admin, does it then work as expected?
