Fences moving

The problem is that every time Nvidia sends an update to my Win 11 box, it leaves Fences piled on top of one another.  I then have to move them back to their original spots which takes a lot of time.

Is there a fix for this?

Thank you,

Mark

Moved to Fences area.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. We need more information.

  1. Your Windows 11 full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe.
  2. Fences full version number.

Thank you.

Hi Mark, can you capture and send us your debug log? This definitely should not be happening.

Steps

(1) Enabled "Advanced Debug Logging" from Troubleshooting in About

(2) Reboot

(3) Capture the issue a few times

(4) Select "Create Report Package" from Troubleshooting in About, and follow the on screen instructions to upload.

We'd love to take a look at what's going on. Thanks for the help.

If you can't reproduce the problem because it only occurs during nVidia updates, skip right to step 4 and we can work with what we've got.

Do you want it for fences 4 or 5. Now I have both installed.

While i have had it happen too with Nvidia drivers, remember that Fences creates backups of your Layout which you can restore. So i just do that, as it's quick. Configure fences > layout > save / restore > use latest, and done. No need to drag stuff.

I believe it is Fences 5, I don't remember there is "Create error report" in Fences 4.

Hi Mark, I received your logs, thanks for sending those in.

So to confirm – have you experienced the problem since installing Fences 5?

I can confirm that you are indeed running 5 and only 5 – the extra entry you might be seeing in the uninstall area was just the installer having trouble removing the previous entry it seems like, but 5 installs on top of 4, and only 5 is installed and running.

I think Xfade81 was just referring to restoring the latest snapshot, if something got messed up. But hopefully that doesn't happen here with v5. Let me know thanks! I recommend disabling the "Advanced Error Logging" for now until you're sure the problem is occurring with v5, and then we can work to capture it after.
