We are trying to reproduce this issue but can't seem to internally yet - how many monitors are on your device?

Also, when you see this, if you manually restart Windows Explorer again, do you still see it?

Are you using any other monitor software (DisplayFusion for example)?  If so, and you disable it, does it still reproduce.  Likewise with any other taskbar modification software.

I have just the one. I just updated my Graphics driver and it seems OK for the moment. Wondering if it actually was Start 11? As that is the first thing I do when things settle down after fresh boot to move the Task Bar to the top. I will try doing something else first next time. Thanks for the prompt replies. As a carer for my wife who has 2 serious health problems I am often very busy and unable to respond promptly myself.

It is definitely Start 11. I upgraded my graphics driver this morning in case it was that.

Sure enough MS pushed Cumulative Update for Win11 V23H2 at me again. After the reboot I ran my emailer and Firefox and all stayed still. However when I ran Start11, clicked on the Task Bar option and the Restart Explorer button, the screen blanked, although Start11 stayed visible. Ran the Auto Repair and uninstalled latest quality update. Reboot and back to normal.

Sure as shooting MS will push that back at me later. I cannot spend anymore time on this. Have uninstalled Start11 and will find an alternative.

This is the only report we have of this and I have to confess I would expect to see more reports of it were Start11.

Is it possible you have something else running too which might interfere with Start11?

It's normal for the screen to go black for a second or two when restarting explorer.exe, but it should come back after that.

Are you using a discrete graphics card, or the on board GPU in the CPU? If it's a discrete GPU, what is the make and model, and the version of the graphics driver?
