Hello,

I purchased Multiplicity 4 (Beta) given that Multiplicity 3 was working great with my setup during the trial period. I have encountered a couple of regressions along the way.

Issue and Reproduction

  1. In Seamless mode, I can only get the most recently added Secondary to accept the mouse from the Primary.
    1. I can reproduce this by adding another secondary (tertiary) pc.
    2. When I add this "new" secondary (tertiary) PC the primary will only work with only the newly added PC.
    3. When I remove this newly added secondary (tertiary) PC from the Seamless grid, then the previous secondary PC will begin working again.
    4. I attempted different combinations of reference by hostname or IP for the secondary PCs.
      1. None of the attempts allowed mousing for both secondary PCs.
    5. I performed the following installation steps:
      1. ran the purge .bat file to clean up the installation for Multiplicity 3 on each PC.
      2. I then downloaded the Multiplicity 4 Beta 2 from the Downloads area available in my account.
      3. I proceeded to install the .exe on each PC.
      4. I performed a reboot on each PC.
      5. I attempted the setup shown below as I had it in Multiplicity 3.
  2. Windows Key + L  (Lock) on the Primary does not broadcast to a secondary PC for me.
    1. I tested this with a single secondary PC and it did not work.
      1. My Primary pc was locked, but the secondary PC did not lock.
    2. I tested both secondary PCs one at a time and neither would lock.
    3. Using Multiplicity 3, I locked all three PCs without issue.
    4. Using Multiplicity 4 Beta, the locking issue could be related to the issue I described above.

PC Configuration

  • Primary (center in the image below)
    • CPU: 1950x AMD
    • Windows Version: 23H2 (OS BUILD 22631.4317)
    • Multiplicity 4 Beta 2 Version: 4.0.0.1
  • Secondary (HERMES in the image below)
    • CPU: i7-8650U
    • Windows Version: 23H2 (OS BUILD 22631.4317)
    • Multiplicity 4 Beta 2 Version: 4.0.0.1
  • Secondary 2 - Tertiary (10.0.0.166 in the image below)
    • CPU: i7-1185G7
    • Windows Version: 23H2 (OS BUILD 22631.4317)
    • Multiplicity 4 Beta 2 Version: 4.0.0.1

Attempted Setup

I can only mouse to Secondary 2 (10.0.0.166)

Removing 10.0.0.166 from Seamless Grid

I can now mouse to the Secondary (HERMES) successfully again.

Hi hlab,

With your build of MP4 we have been able to reproduce this issue.  However, it has been addressed and should work for you with the upcoming release of the next one.

Observed a minor issue, it could be designed this way or a licensing server isuue.

I was setting up a 2 machine 4 monitor setup.  Both machines are running Windows 11 24H2 fully patched.  One machine is running a AMD 7940HS with 1440p monitors on HDMI2.0 and USB-C Alt-DP.  Second Machine is Intel Ultra 5 125H with 2160p monitors on HDMI2.1 and DP1.4a.  All monitors at 60hz and both have internal graphics only.

Initially I setup AMD machine as master and it was working fine.  I was going through the Setting on the secondary machine and I chose the switch to primary mode without really paying attention to what I was doing and only realized after I had rentered the product key from purchase.  At that point I was warned that the license was already in use and I could buy another if I needed.  Stopped the process at that point as I did not need the Intel computer to control the AMD.  I verified that the AMD machine had the slider in Secondary mode possition.

On the AMD machine every 24hr since then (twice now exactly 24hrs apart) I have gotten a popup to license my copy like at the end of a demo installation.  When I enter the key It warns that the license is used somewhere else but it accepts the key, shows as licensed copy in about and seems to fuctions normally.  This is more of a nucence and could be a result of my actions.

Two unrelated minor issues:

  • I used the trial first, and then paid for a license.  Several days ago, I received a reminder email about my trial expiring soon.  Today, I received two similar emails, the first thanking me for downloading the trial (I didn't), and the second reminding me again that my trial is about to expire.

  • I got to play with drag-and-dropping some files between two machines, and I noticed that the windows text next to the mouse cursor says "move files here", which could be confusing.  I tried this with a required shift and without it, and it always shows a "move".

Hello,

I wanted to say thanks to the whoever's idea it was to put the scroll bars on the window allowing you to scroll the multiple monitors.  That is a really useful feature over M3.  Thanks.

Sincerely,

Ivan Thomson

I'm having significant issues with M4 Beta 2. Sometimes it will work, but most of the time mouse movement on the secondary in KVM mode is so laggy its unusable, roughly one to two updates per second. When its doing this, keyboard input doesn't work at all. Tried moving from a wireless connection to wired (2.5Gbps secondary & 10Gbps primary) no improvement. When it works, its OK but most of the time it is unusable.

Also, using the tray icon option "Unload Multiplicy" doesn't seem to do anything other than remove the tray icon. Open sessions remain open and continue to function, subject to above problem.

Everytime I read that with MP, it's 1 (or more) things:

  • One or both of the PCs are getting crushed (load, network traffic, etc)
  • One or both of the PCs have a mouse with an incredibly high polling rate. This can be adjusted way down in the software for the mouse.

I would recommend a full burn of MP on each PC:

And installing this, an internal build of MP 4 on each PC that I have Private Messaged a link to you

Let us know.

I upgraded from Multiplicity 3.6 to 4 Pro (Beta). The upgrade went surprisingly smoothly, though I did have to re-install on the primary PC to make it accept settings changes.

Everything appears to be working perfectly now except for an odd glitch when transitioning between two PCs in the Advanced resolution aware grid Seamless mode:

- When moving the mouse from "WIN-4BI SSQE1DI..." DOWN to "DESKTOP-Q5...", the mouse snaps to the upper left corner of "DESKTOP-Q5..." instead of being at the correct horizontal location along the top edge of "DESKTOP-Q5...".

- When moving the mouse from "DESKTOP-Q5..." UP to "WIN-4BI SSQE1DI...", the mouse snaps to the lower left corner of "WIN-4BI SSQE1DI..." instead of being at the correct horizontal location along the bottom edge of "WIN-4BI SSQE1DI...".

All mouse transitions to and from those two PCs and the primary monitors on the right are perfect.

- It would be nice if I could manually edit the XY offsets of the screens as in the old mode. Dragging the screens is a little coarse. But, this interface is so slick I am 95% happy anyway.

Thank you!

This is always a firewall issue.  Please see:

Hi FromNorthvilleMI,

Thanks for posting.  I've been able to reproduce, and now have it logged internally.
