Images upside down or rotated

Windows 11, 3 monitors.  When I look at the images via explorer.  All look good.  When I look at the images in the playlist.  All look good.  When they show up on my screen.  The same few images are either rotated 90' or flipped upside down.  I tried manually removing the images from the playlist.  Rotating the image that is "right side up" to be "upside down" which would change it possibly in deskscapes to right side up... Then re-added the images to the playlist.  Still has them the wrong direction.  

How the heck can I fix this?  Just looking for a good slideshow image desktop app since windows 11 is bugged out and forgets the "slideshow" setting constantly.

In addition.  When I look at the images in Deskscapes 11 they are correctly positioned.  But when they apply, many are sideways or upside down.  I have tried in settings, settings, defaults, changing default background position and "FIT" seems to do the best but still has the issue.  All selections have the same issue.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more information on your system.

  1. Windows 11 full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe to get it.
  2. Deskscapes version.
  3. Need to know more on details on your 3 monitors.
    1. Resolution.
    2. Windows scale applied (100%, 150% etc)
    3. All set to Landscape Orientation?
    4. Connection type (HDMI, DP, etc)
  4. Is the issue the same on all 3 monitors?
  5. Is the issue happen with specific wallpaper or all wallpapers?
  6. Do you the same issue while you apply the same Wallpaper using Windows default Background setting?
  7. Screenshot of the issue would help us understand the issue.

Hello, 

Thanks for your help.  Here is all the info.  

  1. 23H2 22631.3737
  2. 11.02
  3. Monitors A, B, C
    1. A - 1920 x 1080 B - 1080 x 1920(portrait)  C - 1920 x 1080
    2. A, B, C -  100%
    3. A, C - Landscape - B, Portrait?
    4. A - DP   B & C - HDMI
  4. Same on all three monitors.
  5. Yes only happens on specific images, not all.  As mentioned, I've tried rotating the actual image itself in an image editor.  Does not help.  
  6. No.
  7. I don't think a screen shot is going to help.  It's an image.  Rotated or flipped.  I'll include a couple anyway.  

    First image - Upside down



    Second image - Windows Explorer and Deskscapes showing right side up.

Hello,
Thanks for that information. Is it possible if you can share the link of one of those picture that you're having issue with if it is publicly available. Or, if it personal. try cover it up where ever you wish, as long as it still having the issue and share it. I need it to test it on my system. And as a test on your side, just a fast one, set all monitor to landscape mode and apply that picture again. Does it show up correctly?

I downloaded the pic of the two people with drinks and it did indeed display upside down. I then opened it in Photoshop and changed the image size from 4032 x 3024 to 3840 x 2160 and saved it. This image then displayed right side up in DeskScapes. So, to test this theory, I opened a pic I had in Photoshop and saved it at 4032 x 3024 and it displayed right side up in DeskScapes.

Based on this info, I'm guessing there is something in the Meta data that forces it to display upside down. I have had this issue before with photos taken with my iPhone in landscape with the phone upside down.

If you have an image editing app, I think if you open it, make a change, and then save it, it will display correctly. The Microsoft Photos app will work. You will have to make some kind of change to it (like a small crop) and then save as. I tested this with MS Photos and it does work.

Edited every image, resaved them and they all work now.  Very odd that all other applications had no issue displaying them appropriately.  Either way nice to see it working before my trial ended.  Likely a purchase now.  Too bad I'll have to stay on top of it when adding new images.

I tested taking photos with my iPhone and my theory was correct.

If the photo is taken with the phone upside down (lenses down and on right side) the photo will appear upside down in DeskScapes.

However, if the phone is right side up (lenses up and on the left side) the photo will appear correctly in DeskScapes.

Just make sure you have your phone right side up when you are taking landscape photos.

My guess is that Deskscape does not read the rotation metadata and causing issue. There is another similar issue on video appear not correctly on vertical orientation video on portrait orientation monitor: ref: https://forums.stardock.com/507860. (Deskscape11 issue start on Reply#4)
