Can't Hide Headers (Fences v5.53)

Exact Windows version \ build (winver.exe): Windows 10 Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.4412)

I am using the trial version of 5.53.

Created my first and only group to be hidden by Fences.

Trying to hide headers so they only show "On Mouseover":

This behavior exists even after rebooting the laptop.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Do you set the Fences to roll-up? If that is turn on the Fences Headers will not be hidden. Only if you have Fences not roll up than the Header will show up when mouse over.

If you wish for title bar to be gone, than I would suggest us the "Vanish" function.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

I figured out just double-click the desktop and it makes the fences disappear. Seeing the title bar is not a problem for me.

However -

I have 2 icons on the desktop that I can not exclude from the double-left click to hide:

Links to paulp575 folder and Paul-Laptop folder. I created them by right clicking on the desktop and then creating the shortcut.

When I right click on each icon, the context menu doesn't have have the option to "Exclude this icon from Fences' quick hide" (see attached screenshots).

Thanks.

Look like you have something else changing your right click menu. Please check any 3rd party application that conflict with Fences. And it might be "Start Menu X". Here what I get when I right click on "This PC"

Okay; it is probably StartMenuX.

I'll try disabling that and report back.

Thanks.

I disabled it but nothing changes.

Thinking about deleting it and installing your Start11 (on my Windows 10 computers).

Question about Start11:

On my desktop running Windows 10 Pro I have a lot of programs in the StartMenu that I can not delete (many of them are labeled "system"). They are programs I will likely never run/use. Will Start11 allow me to either delete/uninstall or preferably hide them from the startMenu?

Hello,
I can not answer you since I am unsure which area in Start11 Start menu you're referring. Start11 can do a lot of things, it best if you do the 30 days free trial and ask again if you have issue. Post some screenshot so we understand which area you're referring to.

Start11v2 have 8 Start menu base style, Windows 7, Modern, Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows App, Windows Pro and Windows Launcher style. Each has different design and different capabilities.

Thank you.

Uninstalled StartMenuX.

No change in the context menu for the 2 icons mentioned above (Reply #2).

Than something else might have changed that or when StartMenuX uninstalled it did not reset back to default Windows right click menu. What you can do is to test on a Sandbox and see if the issue appear there.

Wasn't able to do the sandbox due to my laptop running Windows 10 Home Edition.

Went through my C and D drives and removed all instances of StartMenuX and Orginarysoft.

Also did that via the registry editor - being very careful to remove only the appropriate instances.Ive attached some screen shots showing:

1. Desktop after boot up

2. Each one of the desktop icons' context menus.

And the content menu for each of the desktop icons:

Recycle bin context menu:

Paulp575 context menu (links to the folder named 'Paulp575'):

Paul-Laptop context menu (links to the folder named 'Paul-Laptop'):

FTM context menu (links to the FTM program):

Mouse Without Borders context menu (links to program - I think):

Exercise log context menu (links to spreadsheet):

Democrats versus Republicans context menu (links to graphic):

Interesting to note the items in the content menu are so different.

Hope this helps,

Thanks.

Look like the "Exclude this icon from Fences' quick hide" has reappear. So your issue resolved. On the differences between right click menu on different icons/programs. That is normal since different icons has different function when click. This is the same on Vanilla Windows installed.

How would I keep an icon from hiding if the context menu has no option to do so - such as the "Paul-Laptop" and "Paulp575" icons?

Not sure why those icons don't have the normal "Exclude this icon from Fences' quick hide". But, you can put those two icons into a Fences, and set that Fence to be "Exclude this Fence group from quick-hide". And, if you want it to look like desktop icons, you can set that Fences to have 100% transparent background.
