Wallpaper makers...listen up....

In the past two days just over 100 walls were submitted for approval.  It's taken just over one hour to access each and post comment, with a few for immediate rejection there are now 99 pending.

Wouldn't be quite so bad if just one single person hadn't submitted about 50 of them on his own.....I've never seen so many permutations of the same old Bryce....pick a colour and he's upped it.

Some people wonder what happens in the mysterious world of submission moderation, well generally several admins will each devote time to assess each submission and formulate an opinion....until there is sufficient concensus of opinion to determine their 'fate'.

Some hit the floor from obvious transgression/s....but then others will bite the dust simply because there are just so many the same that it's downright repetitively boring.

Of those 50 I expect maybe 10 will make it.

Heck....there's 16.7 million different colours....why didn't he just up them all?  I've got nothing better to do.....who 'needs' a life, anyway?....

We've the Dali Museum here down town

I actually went through a phase for about 7 years where just about every three pieces I would do were Surrealism. Though nothing on the level of Dali or Piccaso, just let my mind flow...

Oh and Pablo went totally to the ugly side

Here's a good link listings different artists, the main site is down for now and being revamped as time permits. They stated that it would come back after updates, just not sure when

as stated in other forums ... anyone posting various color versions of the same wall, skin, theme ,etc , should post them as a pack,, zip all the files in to one zip and upload it ..... this will allow users the ease of a single dl and reduce the clutter in the section . also it will keep others works from being pushed to the back...it's a matter of courtesy... make it easyer for everyone to enjoy them.
also i imagine ud get more of them out there, a good looking color pack is less likely to be refused, but 50 different colored uploads of the same wall, etc will....

this my2 cents worth ...

No matter what graphic program, whether it is a 3D or 2D the point is that a great majority of the people that uses them never go beyond the 'preset' shapes, textures and colors. They don’t bother to experiment beyond the few icons visible on the program; therefore all the images will be alike.
GA was mentioned among the artist that have mastered his own technique of depth, reflection and camera position and combined with PhotoShop to create outstanding work (He is recently working a lot with fractal instead of Bryce)
Same goes with LuciousBeast style of combining 3D programs with PhotoShop to give us mind blowing designs.
I can list dozen of artists, including Adni, that have gone beyond the standard of the graphic programs to create astonishing work. 80% of my work is made with Bryce (including icons for OD and images for Cursors) but I also use a lot of PS to post edit them.
As I mention before, if people don’t experiment beyond what's in front of them, the results will be a repetition of the same things.

Sorry, Baker....mostly I really CAN spell...

This wasn't specifically an issue about Bryce...as in fact I quite like some of the colour versions of those submitted.

The horror is that any graphic proggy has the potential to spit out the 16.7 million permutations, and in the case of these recent submissions there would be way too many versions to actually FIT into a zip [almost]....

Instead of proclaiming the virtues of Bryce and 3D Max, I hope some people will listen and create some original artwork

tis the difference between bryce and 3dsmax, 3ds won't do the work for you. So basically anything that comes out of it IS original.

also, so it doesn't sound like I'm being a complete {explitive deleted} I'm not saying that people that use bryce only use it's presets, but 3ds max has 1 preset in it, a tea pot, which people still stick everywhere...sigh

Thinking again on the 50 submissions at once deal, that seems to be the thing I've seen a few people do in a desperate attempt to overhaul downloads and get into a top author postion, I've seen that a good couple of times. The funny thing is, usually NONE of their work gets into top downloads, but they'll be in top authors.

Since there's already twice as many wallpapers than any other category....limiting it to one wallpaper per day per author would help and be sufficient. Mr.50 could still upload 30 submissions a month
Reply #40 Top
I don't think there should be a limit to day, sometimes I put more than one thing up at a time, and I'm sure T-Man has enough stuff to do already lol. People should just have and USE common sense is all it comes down to.
I agree with you horiz0n, but the world is full of folks who THINK they are using common sense
Reply #43 Top
so basically what yur saying is that common sence is really ..uncommon sence ?...
Is common sense something man learns, is born with, or gets by getting smacked in the head by the wife too often Common sense now tells me to put the seat down
Reply #45 Top
i'll refrain from getting involved, i think everyone knows my stance on bryce and poser work
Reply #46 Top
there is no such thing as poser work

I understand what Jafo means now, My Goof

And Horizon, sorry I thought they were similar to a raytracing program I once had, I have never used Bryce or 3D Max, maybe I should not have mentioned them in particular, My Goof again

But I still think Drawings or Paintings, would be welcome

No problem, or need to apologize to me. I agree with you though, I love fine art. Someday I'm going to put some of mine up here

Now I'm a bit nervous. I was thinking about putting up my first wallpaper, until this thread began. It's a wall that I created because I'd been looking for something comperable, but couldn't find anywhere. I took a photograph of a greenman plaque that my son gave to me as a housewarming gift. I did a bit of photoshop blending magic, and voila! A rather simple, bas relief greenman wall. Should I submit it? Or should I just wait. I think that maybe I'll just submit. The worst that can happen is it gets rejected. And, I'm a grownup. I can handle rejection.......
