Start 11 V2 Task Bar Icon Refresh

Start 11 V2 Task Bar Icon Refresh

I have observed a problem with Taskbar refresh when editing and exiting Start11 Config.   The Start button and one other pinned folder show double.  It eventually clears but I can reproduce it on two PC's both running Windows 11 23H2 Build 22631.2506.

Hi,

No,  left aligned work ok.  I had reported that previously.  Center aligned with search and task view cause the problem.

Not sure if you have tried cleanboot : https://forums.stardock.com/505872/start11-support-faq#cleanboot to see if there is conflicting application and/or corrupted admin account. If not yet, please try and report back.

Hi,  Did that first from a recommendation in an earlier post.

Hi,

I've followed your recommendations, and used a third computer.  I was able to see the problems until I turned off Enhanced Taskbar.

That you see this on 3 PCs, but no one else does, screams that you have the same 3rd party app \ setting on all three.

If you open Windows Sandbox, install ONLY Start11 on it, do you still see it?

That will eat a license (of your 5 pack) so be sure to uninstall Start11 from the Sandbox before you kill it after testing.

Hi,  I think I found the issue.   The 3rd party animated icon appears to be the issue.  I had tested this previously and thought it was not the issue but I had neglected to restart explorer after the change.  With that icon removed and explorer restarted, I am no longer seeing the issue.   I am curious though,  why did this icon work with V1 and not V2?  Regardless, thanks for looking into my issue.   You can call this closed.

Thanks for your support.

What third party animated icon and what does it do?

Are you running WindowBlinds as well?

Hi,

It is a Shiba animated icon.   I am not using WindowBlinds.

Much to my disappointment,  I was premature in reporting success.   The issue has resurfaced.   I have also seen another post from a user who has the same issue.   For now, I am simply removing Search and Task View from my menu.   As reported previously, this setup and animated start button worked fine in V1.   Apologies for the confusion.

Hello,

I'm also seeing this issue when I use auto-hide feature with Start11 v2 and close a program while it's hidden. Anything I can do to not make it do this? For now, I'm using Windows 11 native auto-hide, but I'd prefer to use Start11

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I can not reproduce this issue on my system. Not really sure which setting if conflicting between each other.

Thanks

There have been multiple reports of this issue in the last two months. Both myself and PhoenixRising have been able to confirm this issue.

If you have the Enhanced taskbar enabled, autohide enabled, Position Start button and Icons in the center enabled. This issue appears when you open an app from the Start menu and then close that app. For me, opening and closing Notepad will invoke the issue. With this configuration, the Position Start button and Icons in the center setting is marked as Experimental.

Everything works as expected when Position Start button and Icons to the left is enabled.

Thank you. I don't know about the "Open an app from the Start menu" part. With that I can reproduce the issue. With that I have forwarded this issue to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate everyone feedback and patience.

Hi,

I have applied the latest 2.05 Beta version to all my computers and, so far, I have not observed the problem.   I will continue to test and report if anything changes.

Thank you for fixing this.
