I kind of get the feeling they really don't care... CursorFX was never really treated as a mainstream product-

Thank you very much for trying to help me - i kind of feel like SD has abandoned both me and CursorXP which is a shame, i've used CursorXP for over a couple decades if i recall, back when i once lived within a mile or two or them. Sorry that's no longer the case as i could have just personally visited them and asked for help.

I don't know if i did anything wrong - i opened the editor by clicking "Create Cursor" at the bottom of the Cursor Themes selection window.

Then i opened the Turkey.CurXPTheme by highlighting that theme in the Cursor themes window and to the right of the examples  just under "Current theme: Turkey" clicking the second option from the left, (adjacent to the theme preview magnifying glass icon) which appears to be in yellow with possibly a pencil in the icon.

At this point i have two CursorFX Theme Editor windows open, the one with the blank space holders for each function (a circle with a diagonal line through it and the "+" to the upper left) labeled "CursorFX2" at the top, and another CursorXP Theme Editor window with Turkey.CurXPTheme loaded.

I made sure that "Normal cursor states" was selected in both windows, then clicked on "Standard select" in the "Turkey" editor, pressed Ctrl+C, then clicked on the "Standard select" icon in the "CursorFX2" window and pressed "Ctrl+V".

Nothing.

I also tried the same procedure but instead of using the keyboard shortcuts for copy & paste, i used the theme editor menu selections for copy and paste - still nothing.

What am i doing wrong???

Try this (no guarantees):

Click on the pencil icon in the main CursorFX window as you did in reply 4.  Then when it comes up in the editor window, immediately "Save As" with a different name. (Add to the end of the filename, what I saw was the new theme doesn't show in the main window with the new name even though it sorts based on actual theme name.  So, make it "Turkey Edit1" or such and it will show right above the original, or "TurkeyEdit1" and it will show right below the original).

Then try editing the new theme (check in the editor to be sure you've got the correct one), change the hot spot on the Standard Select state, save it (same name), and see if that works.

Interesting. I started to believe it was all my hardware/software and that i might be causing a lot of unwarranted attention so i put CursorXP on an old laptop, though it was upgraded to W11 like the mini-tower, and i get the same results - the "Save As" does not save a file and simply clicking "Save" zeros out the original theme file (a file with the original name remains but has 0 bits/bytes).

It sure shouldn't make a difference as far as i can understand, but if it does, both of these computers are running 64 bit W11

What was going wrong was that when i would create the new theme the old one completely disappeared so i was trying to open the original in a new editor thinking i would need to copy from that and paste into the other editor that had the blank theme.

After staring at the editor window for a while i noticed the heading "Window" up in the tool bar, then closely studied the window which i was in and noted a very small protruding border which turned out to be the original theme. Once i separated the two windows within the same editor i was able to copy.

Many thanks for not giving up on me, frustration often gets the better of me.
